THE SIMPSONS ARE FROM VT

Bullshit, they didn't really say that did they? The show has so many references and junk that could put them anywhere in america. I made a thread about this when I thought they were in Utah awhile ago, https://newschoolers.com/web/forums/readthread/thread_id/249311/ , also I found more eveidence for them being in Utah, after the simpsons see an ice skating show they kick off the skaters and put down a bball court and say it's for the utah jazz :)
 
Groening's mentioned many times over the years that he picked Springfield because it was one of the most common town names all over the US, so that it could be 'based anywhere.' That's all I've ever heard him say, though.

they r from wisconsin i think or like close to illinois but im pretty sure wisconsin. i know this because in one of the opening things they did one of those things where they start close on earth( the simpsons living room) and zoom reall far out to space. when they zoomed out the state lines werent drawn but they zoomed out of wisconsin
 
well i watched an episode once where springfeild was a state and south springfeild was pretty much the rest of the us and all the other silly states were like in a corner

they arnt from any real place the basball thing is satire
 
its based mainly out of oregon. Matt Groening went to the University of Oregon in Eugene which is very close to Springfield. There is a huge paper plant that resembels the nuclear plant that Homer works at. Some of the characters´ names in the show are based off of street names in Portland (Reverend Lovejoy for example)
 
theres definitly got to be a specific town it refers to. i was watching an episode and someone asked homer what state they were in then lisa turned to the tv and said, "how can you not know, just look for the clues"
 
there is no specific state. groening has stated many times that the simpsons are a satyre on america and the name sprinfield was chosen because there is actually a springfield in almost every state (38 states to be exact) it takes eliments from all across the US and ads them to the city. all you trying to figure out which state they are in are idiots and dont understand the point of them being from springfield in the first place.
 
i really doubt they are from vermont because on one show they take a trip to vermont for moe's poetry in which they are so excited to go vermonting. when they travel to vermont they comment on the lifestyle and shit and the enviorment/scenery completly changes.
 
They are from no where and everywhere. There is a good interview with Groining in palyboy where he explains it. They chose Springfield because it was a generic name and the closest area to that of the simpson is portland because of the nuclear plant ocean mountians geographic stuff. So they are actully not in any particular state or place
 
in an episode they go to the top of a building or something and say "hey look you can see all the states that border us. Nevada, florida, minnesota, and maine" or they said like 4 random states all very far from eachother.
 
yea two guys from chelmsford mass do the background design and the library, town hall, elementary school and pizza shop from the simpsons are all based on the mccay library, mccarthy middle school, the old town hall and tony and annes pizza in chelmsford. reppresent nigga.
