Anyone watch this shit? At first I was totally turned off by a couple of the characters horrible ability to actually act. But for some reason this show is entertaining (kind of in the way Weeds is). I've only seen a couple episodes because my friend made me watch it because he is totally obsessed with it. Its intriguing.

its definitely entertaining and keeps you watching exactly like weeds does. but there certainly isnt that much to it. i cannot wait for the wire to come back on so i have something to look forward to tv-wise again.

best show on tv. Last couple of episodes arn't that good becuase he hasn't killed anyone but the first season is good.

I've only seen the first season, but from that season alone, I know that I really enjoy the show. As far as you above me mentioning bad actors...I've definitely seen a lot worse in more popular tv shows.

haha I completely agree. JAMES DOAKES is fucking great. Especially when you hear his voice mail. Womans voice: "you have reach the voice mail of..." Doakes: "JAMES DOAKES!!"

Dexter is probably my favorite show on TV right now, tied with South Park.

It is just fucking awesome. This season, just like the first, is nuts.

Brotherhood and californication are sweet too.

the guy that plays doakes is a terrrible actor, but it makes his character that much better. masuka is hilarious.

considering the acting 90% sucks, the writing genuinely blows... its the worst show that i cant stop watching. If it was purely a cop drama it would be in no way watchable

she makes me cringe everytime she is part of the plot of that week's episode. i really like the series. SHOTIME has been kicking ass with original programming the past few years.

i think the writing is original and inventive... but its just not sharp, the characters can be way too formulaic.. dexters girlfriend(s), his sister, everyone who works at the police station... but i still watch every episode with anticipation because dexter himself, his monologues, are so good.

hahaha i cracked up when they started talking, he nailed dexter. I watched seasons 1 and 2 a while ago but this thread makes me want to keep watching.

Such a great show. I loved the first 3 seasons. The season premier was kinda boring (yes I know it's not out, it's called a leak) but Jon Lithgow should be pretty entertaining.

Just watched all 8 seasons over the last week.

It seemed like a poorly thought out soap opera written by high school girls with adhd.

The basis of the show was great though. Without the serial killer aspect the show would have been complete trash. Horrible acting and horrible writing.

We're at a crime scene let's fuck. We're at work, let's fuck. Let's fuck everywhere. It was about as thin as a cinemax movie where getting on a plane ends with the person getting fucked in the cockpit.

Then seemed like half the dialog was "know you're a great person" "I was wrong" "you're a great cop" whenever the other character was being a total goober.

Debs character made the show almost unwatchable.

The plot just skipped around. A problem it seems like most tv shows have. They don't think about the big picture. One day they're writing and they decide "Hey let's do this!" and that's how the whole series get's done. Nothing really links up well, and things that happen only apply to the next episode or two.

That said I still enjoyed watching it. Gave me something to do while I wasn't able to use the computer or go anywhere for a while.

If the show had better writing, better acting in general and didn't try to be a soap opera it could have been great.
