Has anyone seen the Secret? If you haven't heard about it, rent it and watch it with an open mind. It tries to explain the meaning of life. Any thoughts?

here's a link to the website... but you kinda have to see the DVD. It's better than reading the book too

is this the movie that says if you think positive anything can happen...like law of attraction or something.....if so this movie is complete bullshit and is only supported because Opra(sp?) likes it. my math teacher tried to brain wash me with this shit last year

I like it tho. It was wierd. Last summer when i broke up with my gf i was depressed... with school, no snow... all that shit. but then i started to just try to have a really positive outlook on life. I would make sure all my thoughts were positive, which was hard at first, but now it just comes naturally. i've never been happier, and so much good stuff is happening. like i got a $400 bonus in the mail last week from my summerjob. and i feel so happy and everything. so i believe it.

o i guess i should add this. it's not just all thinking positively. you have to act. you have to pick a goal and think about how it would feel to have that right now. then you take steps towards that goal, but keep that feeling in your head. i find that if i do this, i can reach all my goals. My ultimate goal is to own a heli or cat skiing operation.

this is pretty much exactly what i did a few weeks ago. i try to always have a positive outlook. it makes life so much better and easier to enjoy. its truly a sick thing to do

So basically the book tells you to be happy and work hard toward your goals and you'll achieve them?

Wow, not much of a secret.

It's bullshit, yes if you keep a positive outlook on life good things will happen, but not of a direct result of you phsycically changing fate. If you think about pursuing a dental career, and act upon those thoughts by going to school and getting the marks, it's not that these things in your life were somehow attracted to you because of your thoughts alone. emitting the frequency of a thought out of your head and then that frequency somehow attracting the subject of that thought is TOTAL BULLSHIT.

"The Secret" took the very basic well known concept of thinking poistively, added a bunch of made up facts, production value and some epic music.

They're trying to make money.

i wikied "law of attraction" which the secret is based on...

The Law of Attraction has been criticized for

Implying the law has a scientific foundation when no such basis exists,[1]

Not defining it correctly according to New Thought practitioners,[7]

Mistakenly usurping the role of God.[8]
.....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_of_attraction

not only is having a positive outlook on everything good for achieving goals, but it helps reduce stress and that can make your body so much healthier. in the rare time i'm down, i dream of the best day of skiing i've ever had and i'm instantly better and fired up.

i've listened to it before on a cd in the car on a road trip and i must say that it is the biggest pile of bullshit i think i have ever heard. " if you think about being wealthy and losing weight, you will wake up the next morning 30 lbs lighter and 30 g's richer. umm fuck that shit

my former stepmom wanted my brothers, dad and i too watch it so we could "think like her" but she's an alcoholic so it doesn't make any sense.

i read the back and it sounded like a load of shit. maybe i should just think positively. but there is no snow. but i can think of it. wow. better already

I have seen it for sure. I learned long ago that I would be happier if I concentrated more on happy thoughts and angles on life.

My take on that movie was it isn't quite complete bullshit, but the way they present it is complete bullshit to try to make a buck. That movie was way over produced and dramatized, I almost puked during the intro cause it was so shifty and devious. Although I do believe in the basic principles they were trying to get across. I got a great laugh out of the dignified experts they used in the movie.

While walking around thinking you want to get rich isn't going to make $$ appear. Thinking your whole life that you are run down and never going to make anything of yourself of course will usually make you amount to nothing. Being positive and finding opportunities in every failure will eventually earn you some kind of success, or at least you'll learn to see losses as more of a success.(silver lining type thing)

Wow I actually have this movie. I think my mom bought it a while back, its still in the plastic
