The scariest moment of your life

the first time i saw my epileptic friend have a seizure. when i got winded so bad i thought i was gonna die

either.

25 feet in the air on a bike, knowing you're fucked, and not making the gap.

which is what fucked my arm up.

or

being upside down in an explorer at 40 mph

In grade 1 I was eating a balled up friut-roll-up at recess. I went and got a drink from the fountain inside and the water pushed the fruit-roll-up ball into my throat. so i'm full on choking in the hall, like cant get any air choking, and its recess so nobody's around, but luckily a teacher walked out of her classroom, saw me and gave me the heimlich (sp?) and i gotta say she saved my life.

Another time, i hit sand going down a hill on my bike, flipped the bars, and all i could focus on was the root that somehow got shaped like a spike, that i was flying at head first. when i landed the spike was in between my neck and my helmet straps, it missed my throat by an inch.

And another time, my friend and i are walking home from a party and we walk by this pretty big guy and he just lunges at my friend, but my buddy pulled some matrix shit and dodged the guy, who then starts chasing us. we ended up in a 1Km full sprint to my friends house, jumping fences, and going through backyards and the guy was never more than 50ft behind us. turns out he was a firefighter who thought we were breaking into houses, but its damn scary when a random guy chases you down in the middle of the night.

mine just happened today and it was the exact same as the op's minus like 40 feet haha. still managed to fracture my sternum so i have to sit out 6 weeks.

Idk, I have a tendency to block this shit out, but I was longboarding once from a friends house. He lived on a hill, a steep one. I brought my carver setup anyway. I left, with my mp3 in, listening to Helena by the Misfits. It pumped me up alot at the time, so I kicked like crazy on the flat on top of the hill, dropped into the actual slope, and hit 35-40 mph. I'm cruising for about 30 feet at this clip, and I start to realize something is fucked up. I start to wobble; at this point I'm at that split second where I said to myself "Okay, head for the grass, grass is softer than pavement" andtheresamillionandonethingsrunningthroughmymind and BAM, I jump off and roll down a grassy knoll, it was sharp hay grass and briars followed my sapling maples. My wrist took the brunt of the impact and cracked. My back hit a sapling. My skin was torn to fuck and I had road rash on basically every limb. I sprinted to the closest house, I mustve looked like a monster, all bloody, shaking, yelling. They dressed my wounds, gave me a glass of water, and sent me on my way, a little weirded out. Didn't even offer me a god damn ride home. Im 2 or 3 miles from my house. Wrapped my broken wrist in a shirt, tight, grabbed my board, and walked home. Bad walk, it was fucking hot and I almost got chased by a dog. Went home, blazed up and put it behind me.
I dont really bomb hills anymore

Maybe not the scariest of my life but still scary.

Standing on a little spine above a 20/25 foot cliff and having to turn

around. But not a jump turn, the sketchy turn where you lift on foot,

spin it 180 degrees and then do the next foot

and after the first foot you have one leg forward and one backward.

Scary as hell. No balance at all and im above a 20 footer. at this

point my dad yells. "dont fuck up! that might suck...."

I dont know, not the scariest but it was pretty scary. Ended up turning around and airing out.

Also my 1000th post. yay

not nearly the scariest of my life, but pretty intense. we found a narrow long couloir with about an 8 foot entrance cliff that was a lot of rocks covered in a little bit of snow. the snow in the couloir was totally boiler plate and shit, so the air, unless stomped, would lead to getting tossed backseat and down the couloir, so we decided to bootpack in. i put my skis on my pack and set one foot on the cliff in to test it and it held, second foot i held some rocks on the side in case i slipped but both feet suddenly gave way and i found myself somehow sliding headfirst down a narrow couloir with tons of rocks and no helmet on because i had been skinning and i never bring my helmet then. the snow was solid hard ice so i had no way of sliding to a stop, and i'd dropped my poles when i slipped. the couloir ended in a 60 ft cliff to rocks or a super narrow choke to the right of the cliff that we planned to ski through. either way i was headed for the cliff. i saw a loose rock in the middle of the trail and grabbed it and it was luckily the right shape so that with both hands i jammed it in the snow and slid to a stop

headed home from the mountain bringing back some friends for another friends party. driving through the canyon when i tried to pass a semi, i had checked before and there was not a car in site. got around a curve where i wasnt able to see and there was a car coming straight at us. instantly i knew i couldnt break and get back so i floored it probably had no more than 10 ft between me and the oncoming car when i finally could get over.

scariest moment of my life:

taking my eyes off the road for like 2 seconds and when i look back at the road i see that there is a semi stopped 50 yards in front of me. i was going about 75 and i had one of those moments like in movies where the camera goes inside of someone's head and their brain is like in super-mode and it's firing sparks and shit. i managed to calculate that i couldn't stop fast enough, check if there was a lane to swerve into, and swerve into the open lane in like a third of a second.

it's crazy what the human mind is capable of doing when faced with immediate and great danger.

when my brother hit me with a jetski.
no lie. full on. he forgot there werent brakes on a jetski so he floored it and planned on braking like 5 feet away from me. fucking dumbass...

ohhh lalai got a couple, all were the kind were your brain slows everything down and goes into WTFFFFF mode
when i was in 3rd grade i was using a bike rack as a balance beam with NOBODY around, i fell and hit my chest against it, that was the first time i have ever got the wind knocked out of me and had no clue what happened, it was for around 1.5 minutes me walking around with my mouth open trying to breath... literally just thinking im gonna die, im gonna die, i cant breath, im gonna die
when for some reason i decided not to look when i was crossing a major road during my lunch period freshman year, i walked out about 5 feet into the street and then just hear all my friends going "PHIL WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING!" "CARRRR" "PHIIILLL" and me just rotating in slow motion and seeing an accord ripping towards me at around 60mph and i just stood their staring at the car, then without even thinking about it i through myself back onto the side walk, the car was about 5 feet away and didn't slow down at all
i was speed boarding (longboarding) a hill a few hours away with some friends, its a nice long run, speeds around 45-57mph and we are doing a drafting line down the road like we had done 4 times earlier and towards the bottom of the run their is a nice wide hairpin so since i usually lead the line im looking for possible cars and then see one, the lady driving and i immediately make eye contact, her jaw drops as she sees 5 kids barreling down towards her, in a split second i start pointing at her and pointing into the right lane and to myself and the left lane, some how she managed to figure out what i was saying and we both managed to squeeze through a parked car and a 2 lane road, this was soooo sketchy, i no joke skipped a beati have had a few other scares i will post later maybe

once when i was young, canoeing with the family we flipped through some rapids. I got trapped under the canoe that had flipped over, and just about blacked out when my mom pulled me out, but the current swept me under a log where i did proceed to black out until my dad got me out from under there.

overall scariest/coolest was probably when i was 3rd in line to skydive, and saw 2 of my long time good friends hurl themselves out of a plane at 14,000 feet. Then standing in the doorway myself....good stuff.

Skiing, cutoff by some dumbass in a one-piece from the 70's and sent me off the side of a run, which happened to be over a bridge. The only thing that saved me from kissing pavement 30 feet below me going 25mph was my ski that caught the one rope that was there.

When i woke up after knee surgery and i couldn't feel either of my legs and three different doctors came in to look at me and none of them could figure out why. That was scary.

First time trad climbing (you place your own protection, aka anchors, in the rock)i was almost at the end of my route when i fell down and 3 of my 6anchors broke loose...6ft more rope and i had hit the deck from maybe 40ft height...

I was in a field car with my friend, and we decided to flip it over whilst driving. Generally you flip over and wait for it to come to a stop and shit then you get out, well what he didn't realize is that there was about 45-50 saplings that had been cut about 2 feet from the ground(low enough to go under the flipped over hood of the car), leaving this fucking minefield of dead wood. We slid at probably 35 miles an hour into one of them UPSIDE down, it fucking wrecked the roof of the car and ended up being like 5 inches from my face. Almost shit my pants, not gonna lie.

full speed backcountry straight into a tree, blackout, no ski patrol around, had to force myself out of the woods while cringing in pain

surfling: got caught in a hole or something as i was standing up, got sucked down to the seabed, pinned there by currents for a good 5 seconds (which felt like 5 minuets)...and then having to get my shit together and surface

skiing: 6 years old, first pipe run, shot off lip, probably went a foot high at best, came down sideways, tumbled down the wall, landed on stomach facing downhill...my legs went limp and my tails fell into my head...thank god my mother had just gotten me a helmet.

other: second night of orientation at dartmouth. had pregamed like 4 shots, went out to some frats, probably a total of 10 drinks deep, start playing 6-cup with mixed drinks, then dipped, then smoked a j, then played (real) pong while dipping again...i have zero idea how i got back to my room, but i came to sitting at my desk in such bad shape that I wanted to call campus security to come save me, except I couldnt open my phone, started tearing up, thinking about my family, then i heaved into my trash bin for about 5 minutes, and felt fantastic. but for future reference: alcohol (depressant) + nicotine (stimulant) + weed (narcotic) = fucked the shit up

i was in france a couple years back, and was walking with my family and another family on a small street roped off that day for a street market. my friend, around 17 at the time, had my little brother on his back, about 7, and we were walking in a blob in the middle of the street. all of a sudden this crazy bitch floors her tiny french piece of shit car through the metal barrier, clips my friend with my bro on his shoulder making him fall, and me and my mom get pulled out of the way missing the car by less than an inch. let me clarify, this car was coming at us from our back, and the only reason the we gotpulled out of the way was because my friends mom was taking a picture of the market. the car knocked over a bunch of shit, crashed through another barrier, which knocked the barrier into 2 little kids. The crazy hoe had just failed her college application test (like the sat here) and was flipping a shit and was fucked up. we were all freaked out, and we wanted to get out of there quick. were walking back to our car when we hear this girl screaming with her dog standing next to a car with smoke coming out of the hood. a man ran out of the house next to the car and threw a bunch of wet towels on the hood of the car. minutes later the car is engulfed in flames and the tires are exploding, and i swear that car was about to blow up.. me, being an adventurous little 12 year old, got close to the car and took some pics:i think theyre pretty damn artsy for a 12 year old

I was skiing in the trees and decided to go off this little bump that looked totally harmless didnt know there was a fat icy ditch on the other side, I land in it my tips ram into the bank, I fly out of my bindings and somehow when I land facefirst the tip of my pole smashes through my goggles. I came really really close to getting stabbed in the eyeball with a ski pole which would not have been fun at all, on an unrelated note one time I fell out of my second story window onto my cement driveway on my head and almost died cuz my head fucking exploded

when i was about 11 or 12 i was kayak surfing at the beach, The waves where much bigger than normal, about 10-15 ft.l and i didn't have anyone to go with me so i was just off to the side of the main beach and just getting past the break was a struggle. On my 4th or 5th wave of the day i had my weight just a little to far forward. In normal situations this really isn't a big deal, you fip, get washed around for a bit, empty the kayak out and then try again. This wasn't normal. Because of how fast i was going the front of the kayak literary went straight down. so at this point my kayak is perpendicular to the water and i fell like;im about to shit my bathing suit. i fall out of the kayak and get tossed around in the surf for a bit, but in the end i just end up with a bunch of scratches from the small rocks on the bottom of the beach.

getting caught in a riptide, swallowing water and thrown against the rocks covered in barnacles, eventually pulled out by my friend, bleeding everywhere

the only on that comes to mind was like two weeks ago, coming home from copper mountain on i70, there was a traffic jam leading to the tunnel, and i had just past dillon, and i had to piss, so what do i do? i pull over on the shoulder and walk a few feet to the edge of the road, it was dark out (there was a moon that night but i had just looked in the light of a car on accident) so i was momentarily blind well i walked over a bit an turned my flash light on and i was literally less than a foot away from a huge embankment, prolly like 120 feet or so, scary as shit...
