The Salomon "Mark Abma Pro"

I will buy this ski when Salomon makes it. Why should they make it? First, Abma deserves a pro model. In Ready Fire Aim he was doing zeros in the BC and 5's over road gaps. He deserves his own ski, as he has been on the forefront of progressing newschool skiing in the BC. Second, if you have ridden the dumont. You know how well woodcore salomon skis ride. They got mad pop, and hopfully, they wont shit out after a few years.

Specs

-138-112-134

-Wood Core (same as Dumont)

-Progressive sidewall construction (same as the Dumont)

-Construction that caters towards center mount

-Graphite base

-Salomon L.A.B. construction

For Graphics, Chili Thom could be used again for continuity, maybe with Abmas name on the ski like Dumonts. (something like this)

I said I would never buy Salomon. They made the Dumont. I bought that shit quick.. and it is the dopest ski I have ridden. The ski is super solid, and now I want a pow ski from them. I dont want a pocket rocket on rocks. I want a wood core, ill ski, and I bet you all agree.

only 2mill taper in the sidecut, between the tip and the tail, yeh it'll land switch well but it will probably ski like shit normally. Front should be more like 142. Make it more progressive like slight tip tail rocker, stiff mid tail through to underfoot to slightly beyond the toe and soft tips.

Why not just buy the new X-wing, its 197cm, but Abma will be ridding it. So sackup...

If anybody wants to see the X Wing Lab of the Rocker come and talk to me at Momentum Ski Camp and I can any model for you to check out.

We also have a full line of next years wood core Salomon park skis to demo and yes you can use them on rails as it is summer camp.

Peace.

Come try our skis and see for your self. You will notice the changes in a huge way lets just say you need to ski them and them post your remarks.

Alot of pro's/ diggers that have other big ski sponsors won't get off our skis as some of these people have broken there gear and are loving our dope skis so far because we have changed so much in 1 year.

We started twintips with the 1080 and are working hard to make skiing better for everybody across the board with Athlete inspired skis. Momentum Ski Camp is the Salomon test center so if your ripping on the hill just show up and try our skis.

Peace,

have you ridden next years thruster? its a totally redesigned ski derived from the dumont, i.e. wood core, its not a noodle at all.

look so sick, i always hated salomons but every since i saw some dumonts in action i always wanted a pair so bad they look soooo fun.

^^^ yo, salomon dude, I never even thought once about getting salomon skis. Then the dumont came out, i didnt even look at it, cuz i figured it was foam. then, i did some reasearch, found out it was wood, and bought em QUICK. I want a pow ski with the same constrcution. You will sell A TON of these skis!!!!! Make something wood core and progressive for pow!

We have it!

The X Wing Lab wood core and the Rocker also Wood core. I will have some at Momentum for NS people to check out.

Hopefully that anwsers your questions.

See, here's why you're an idiot.

"-Construction that caters towards center mount"

No. No no no.

why would someone do that? i mean i can see why they would do it but it seems like it would be hard to make, and like it wouldn't have any advantages over the foam or the wood.

im probably missing something though.

The Dynastar Legend Pro has always had some foam on top of the wood. The B Squad is completely foam.

Adding the foam to the wood on the thruster will give it more energy release. Wood by itself can only really give back a lot of energy if you camber the hell out of it, as in Tanner Halls and whatnot.

All foam is jumpy, weak, and breaks down, especially in a twin.

All wood is sorta dead feeling, like all K2s.

The mix of both can help a builder find a happy medium.

Many ski brand mix them up.

"by progressive ski, we mean woode core full twin, that can throw down in the back country and thats usuable in park, think line sir francis bacon/k2 hellbent/Surface Live Life/Armada JP vs Julien/ Rossi BC.

They totally missed the point. They think only big mountain $1000 skis and 80mm park skis need to be wood. What is hot right now are 110-120mm waist woodcore everyday pox/bc/booter twins, a ski that Salomon still totally skips in the lineup. Nobody will buy the Gun for that, it isn't that. The rocker ins cool, but it caters to a niche online/prodeal market that won't/doesn't need to pay shit for it.

^^^^ totally!!! Flex hit the nail on the head, as did some other guys. What I have been saying, mr salomon dude, is that you need to make a ski not for heli skiers with a swallowtail, not for rich ass dads trying some new ski, but a 500-700 dollar (prefarably less) with a tip in the back as large (or larger) than the one in the front. I guess the gun is like that, but it doesnt have wood/looks gay. So, tell your higher ups and mark abma to agree to make this ski, and it will sell to progressive park riders riding out of the park. you're welcome. (send me a free pair)

i see what you mean. but i think wood can be very lively. i think the way in which the ski was made effects the ride more than the materials used. for example, you can make bamboo be very stiff or very flexible just by the way you make it.

i agree with you, and see what you mean to a certain extent, but i dont think it is wise to make a generalization about wood construction, because it varies emensely.

Of course the way wood is milled will effect the flex, and the shape of the core/ski will effect performance. I was simply commenting on the general properties of wood as they apply to skis, a very easy and true generalization to make.

The major differences you are feeling between skis have MUCH more to do with fiberglass layering, metal, epoxy, quality control, and tune than they do with the way a single type of wood is milled.

Between different types of wood their are obviously variations of certain properties as as energy retention/release and dampening. Obviously Bamboo will feel completely different from Maple (my two personal favorites as they are extremely hard), and even more than fir aspen or ash the soft "deadwoods."

i know what you mean, im just saying the construction of the ski effects performance more than a thin layer of foam.

and i was only using cores as an example of different construction methods.

In the very best French race room constructions the LP and all of Dynastars World Cup Slalom skis have that "thin layer of foam" so somebody imprtant seems to think it makes a difference.

In a park ski is the extra cost of using both warranted? We'll find out when more people ski it I guess. If anything tech should be added to park skis it should be something that prevents them from exploding every season not something that makes them turn better :)

any new info on this ski, is it going to be salomons answer to the other rockers out there or like anothe czar or gun? really any info would be sweet, also when are they going to release it? next year?
