The saggy pants law

Im sure all you guys from the states have probably heard about this but i just found out last night and could not believe it.

"The saggy pants fad surfaced in jail, when juvenile offenders wore overly large prison garb that sagged, exposing their underwear. It later became a fashion statement among rappers and remains popular in urban communities across the country.The fashion fad caused a backlash among adults who felt exposing one's boxers or thong was unfashionable and offensive. The result has been cities, like Riviera Beach, passing laws banning the practice. The city joins Opa-locka in Miami-Dade County and several Southern towns with "pull up your pants" laws. The Atlanta school district also has a similar measure.
Under the law, anyone wearing saggy pants that expose underwear or skin is deemed a violator. The first offense carries a $150 fine or community service; a second offense prompts a $300 fine or more community service.Habitual offenders, those with three or more violations, face a possible penalty of spending up to 60 days in jail."

Seriously JAIL!!

wow. laws are meant to protect you and keep everyhting fair and just. now this is just people taking their personal views to the extreme and using their power in the completely wrong way. whatever happened to freedom of speech? can you not express yourself by the way you dress? i guess not anymore.

pants = speech..?

jk i know what you mean. For some reason i question the validity of the "sagging started in jail" claim.

Wanna know what really offends me? When religious people say I'm wrong for being an athiest. You don't see them getting fined...

That's really gay. I don't think the cops would even care enough to pull somebody over for sagging. If so, they said that it's only a fine if they see your boxers, solution, wear a tall tee.

Sounds like the same sorta thing as russia putlawing emos, if they want to be like they can, shouldnt be a law against it, same with baggy pants.

i was just about to say the same thing about the tall tees..... but you know what realy grinds my gears is kids with tight girl pants that still sag.... i would kick my own ass if i thought that was trendy..

well, you look stupid, ill give them that... but youre still covered up. moreso than when you are at the beach. so is it really that offensive?

its not as hard core as youd think, its not like if your dressed emo your shot, you just can't dress emo or goth in schools or government buildings. they say that emo and goth styles encourage depression and suicide, which, to be honest, could have some truth to it, but its crazy stereotyping and its completely ridiculous if you ask me

The real question is why is the po-po wasting time on kids wearing thier clothes how they want to? Why don't they go arrest some serial murders? Seems like a better use of thier time
