The Ring *SPOILERS*

Alright this is why the ending to The Ring makes sense.

The reason that you don't die if you make a copy is because, as the boy said, she never sleeps, meaning that she keeps on killing and killing. The problem is, is that if a copy isn't made, there is chance that the original will be lost forever and she wont be able to kill anymore. By sparing the life of the one who makes the copy, it's sort of like a 'thank you' from the little killer girl...it allows her to keep on killing.

Now yes i know this could potentialy backfire on her because if everyone made a copy then no one would die, but most people are dead before they realize it...or think it's just some prank and don't think about it until just before they die.

but how did it suddenly come up again in the first place at the lodge? it had to exist before that, and they were taping the football game, not off another vcr, and whats the small boys connection to samara? and who made the video in the first place?

yeah i know they were taping the game...that's why they died.

now, this may be a longshot...but i think they just fucked up some of the dialogue. The way it sounded to me was that they WANTED to tape the game, but as the owner said the reception up there is shitty and all they could get was fuzz, so they didn't tape it.

The origin of the tape is a mystery...and it's supposed to be that way. That's pretty much a given since 'the ring' is the light shining through the closed lid of the well the girl was thrown into.

Ok, the well was beneath the cabin, and when taping the game, the girl said they ended up with this tape. I think samara saw her chance to continue her evilinity (cool word eh?) and rather than pass it up, interfered with the recording process through a technique called magito-osmosis, wherein, she utilized the recording mechanisims in the vcr to produce the desired effect. (it's far out, but not that far out when you listen to people's reports of paranormal electrical activity and disruptions)

I agree that the kid seeing samara doesn't make much sense, but if it's the one leap they had to make to bring the show together, I'll forgive them.
