The Resurrection of Rails To Riches

The new owners definitely know what's up, most ppl would think axing woodward would be a bad thing but clearly these guys know just how good kparks used to be before woodward took over

Ima have to leave these here, some of my favorite past cuts from Rails2Riches

Pretty stoked on this! Just moved to the east coast from the Midwest so I’m looking forward to driving up this winter and experiencing some east coast hardcore real stuff.

Rewatching these is making me hope that the new owners keep the R2R course at the bottom of Highline like they did in the past.

The only reason I can think of that the new owners would do this is because they attended rails to riches in the past and had a great time, so if they do bring it back I can't see why they wouldn't keep it exactly how it used to be.

Maybe I'm too optimistic but I'm pretty stoked for the future of killington, even mentioning R2R is cool af

That would be pretty sick and would more prominently feature their new lodge they’re so stoked on lol. The other spot wasn’t so bad either though imo. I also think the 2015 R2R was lowkey the events peak. Thats the first one I really remember well too. Franchino took the W followed by dale talkington… legendary

This is such a win for skiing. Bring back the R2R jerseys, having one of those was such a flex back in the day.

Bit going off topic but what happened with War of rails? Remember they had the illest set up from all the rail jams.

Lmao I didn’t even think of the lodge when I commented that but good point. My reasoning was simply to draw more people to watch the event in person and hopefully get some younger heads hooked on rail skiing.

LJs rails to riches performance was the skiing equivalent to Michael Jordans 96-97 season

wow unreal. would LOVE to see LJ go rip this again for old times sake. im sure he's still got at least 3rd place in him haha

also kind of wild to see this direct proof of the big ownership companies destroying some of the core of these resorts. like immediately after the sale our favourite event is coming back. wild.

There's no money in skiing anymore because all the sponsors/ big companies left. War of Rails was backed primarily by Under Armour to my knowledge; and after the last year they put on War of Rails they completely left the ski industry as a whole. They pulled all funding as far as sponsorships etc. Ahmet was their big athlete and they cut ties with him eventually and the rest of their athletes. Just like how there used to be the "Nike Chosen Open", till Nike pulled all money allocated to freesking.

Hahaha I just thinking on what might incentivize killington to do so. I’m with you it would probably draw more attention and get more people into park skiing in addition to bringing it back to the roots. The base of highline was such a fine spot for a rail jam.
