The reason Anon dropped their skiers

Yes I know this is the bajillionth thread on this topic, but too many rumors were flying on WHY Anon dropped their ski team and even rumors that they never did drop them.

My good buddy, -Belly* is his name on NS (snowboarder) was also as sad and confused as me when he heard that Anon dropped their ski team. So he e-mailed them and got the answer on why. Here you go:

This was the Burton response to the question about the anon ski team..."Hey Bentley

A few months ago, we came to an agreement to drop free skiing from anon. We did this because we wanted to get back to the core of our company and focus more on what we do best, which is board sports. It may be temporary and it may be permanent. It’s too early to tell but for the time being, Anon will just be sponsoring Snowboarding, surfing and maybe some skaters. But that’s it for now. As far as teams go, Anon just sponsors a snowboard team. Any others questions, get back to me.

aka we ran out of budget and are going broke.

thats so weak thier goggles looked so sick but they did fog rrlly easily and since they drooped thier ski team its the reason why im not wearin burton becuase i realized that the really dont support skiing at all
 
no, more like they just used the ski industry to promote their products and they are hoping that skiers still buy their products after they dropped their ski team. WEAK SAUCE

as much as i would like to "FUCK THEM" and never buy their product gagain, but the truth is i really like their googles.

doesnt mean that im ok with this, i think there a bunch of fuckheads for doing this.
 
i've already started the boycott started talking to a dude at work about goggles and he told me he wanted to buy some anons. I proceed to tell him they just dropped their whole freeski tam for bush league reasons and instantly changed his mind since he skis

oh well.....i'll still rock my checkered anons...it's a quality company. altho i agree, i wish they wouldn't have dropped skiing .
 
wow, who the hell cares? i would have no problem rocking anons because i don't care if they "support freeskiing." i don't even really "support freeskiing."

 
its not that people really "care" per se...its more along the lines of people being taken back a bit by this considering how many skiers rock their gear. this doesnt mean i wont buy their stuff. even if burton is a snowboard company, their gear is pretty damn good.
 
if by "good" you mean "massively overrated and generally sus-standard" then yeah, its great. anon goggles, technically are the worst of all the big brands in terms of eye protection and anti fogging, and the same can be said of R.E.D. helmets. but fuck it, they're your eyes and its your head, so don't let me stop you...
 
to me it's not a matter of supporting a board company or not, the fact that other companies make better goggles than them is what steers me towards other companies. the value that you get out of a pair of Oakleys or Smiths is much greater than the value that you get from a pair of Anons.
 
ha they said they only want to support boardsports. isnt skiing a boardsport?  hell if anything its more of a boardsport than anything else, cause we got two!
 
I think there's perfect reason to say fuck 'em and stop buying their products. They don't seem to want our business so let's stop giving it to them. It would be hard for them to be core when a bunch of stupid skiers are wearing their shit. (Sarcasm in that last sentence if you missed it.) At a time like this when skiing and boarding are so alike in terms of park, big mountain, and progression in general and when skiers and boarders are "co-existing", in a way, they have to go and isolate themselves. I can tell you one thing, you won't see me rocking a pair of Anons this season.
 
i still dont understand this

if anon and R.E.D. dropped their team. then why do they have ads in skiing magazines that promote this years stuff and is promoted by thier former riders?
 
didnt they also sponsor eric pollard? i don't know if people can say that they make "shit product" cause the snowboarders that wear their "shit product" are fucking amazing and so these riders that are on top of their game depend and believe in the product that they wear. boycott them cause they dropped the ski team, whatever. dont start calling it shit product cause i'm pretty sure that jeremy jones, keir dillon nor hannah teter would wear shit on their face.

does anyone know the entire list of skiiers that were on anons team?
 
an excuse for me to replace my old figments? idk i kinda feel like i shouldn't care that much, i'm not on the team, i didn't get dropped
 
ummm, you do know they get paid to wear them right? correction, GOT paid in skiers' case...

it doen't make that much of a difference to the athletes, coz they just get new stuff, but it does matter when you're a consumer and the value/durablity of a product comes into consideration...
 
whatever man, i full respect that decision. If you had a company for something, and started doing it for skiers, would you want boarders on? maybe, but most likely you'd all want to keep it core. this is what theyre doing, and i doubt it was for huge financial reasons.

even though i dont use their goggles, i think they look sick, and if you like them you should buy em.
 
So it's true. I still can't believe that they dropped their team. They should have left it the way it was without every kids on ns hating them.
 
fuck um...we don't need them. If they can't see where skiing is going then they should have never gotten involved

it is a very ignorant thing to do, especially when skiing is expanding like crazy.
 
oh dood I totally forgot that when you wear anon goggles you automatically become super sick and scientifical! I dont care who they sign... the goggles are shit.

What a load of crap...how exactly are surfing and skating are more aligned with the core of a GOGGLE company than skiing...? dick move, fuck anon.
 
man that sad, back to there roots? they might lose alot of customers because of that. but i really hope oakley picks up tj.
