O.K. lets here it, Who in your opinion is the real

godfather of skiing, Who's style influenced you the most, Made you want to be stylie like him, ect.

Can make this a east / west war

JP or Mike D, or maybe someone else. It is time to add your 2 cents.

dood.....Glen Plake, Scot Schmidt, Robb Gaffney, etc....without them there would be no freeskiing.....but if youre going to be a gay park rat and say who influenced park skiing the most, then its without a doubt Mike Douglas....hes the one we have to thank for the twin tip

Like being able to summon tasty cheese
But would I use it for good or evil?
I just don't know...

I can't believe nobody said C.R. Johnson. Maybe he isn't all old and stuff but he definitely was a pioneer of making halfpipe skiing legit and also bringing the big tricks to the b/c. In my opinion he's the best overall skier in the world, and on top of that he ALWAYS has super solid video parts. He was the first person I saw do a bio in a video as well. (Not sure if he was the first though) .

I dont know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Billy the Kid, World Champion 64, really brought america into skiing, creating the boom in ski villages we see today.

i can't believe i'm the only person on this site that has learned anything from seth....but i guess a lot of you never ski outside the park!

Shooter:I eat pieces of shit like you for breakfast!

Happy:You eat pieces of shit for breakfast?

plake, schmidt, douglas, and I really do hate to say it, but for me in the begining.. mosely... as much of a toolas he is now, he is one of the reasons I'm into freeskiing today.

godfather you jackasses, not hot right now. if i see tanner or pep or pollard on this post one more time i am going to puke. plake and schmidt were the first skiers to be sponsored who didnt really do anything in particular besides rip all the time and look like rockstars doing it. without them, there wouldnt be sponsored skiers, or a newschool scene.

if i said it, it must be the truth!

hey douche bag... why dont you go watch some of pollard and you will see how progressive he was in the beggining of the whole movement. he was workong on the progression of the sport far before tanner or pep.

to ass stomper: pollard is extremely progressive, he is probably my favorite skier to watch, however, he is not the godfather. a godfather is someone who starts a movement, not someone who participates in a movement. get that straight before you start talking shit and sounding like a jackass.

if i said it, it must be the truth!

plake obviously. no newschool skiers or racers are godfathers. we're to far along in the sport to be picking a godfather now.

Plake, and who are these kids saying Pep? he didnt get in the game till lke five years ago, how does that classify him as a godfather of skiing?

--You know your ugly when you make a man poop out his own penis...

oh well maybe stein ericson then yeah scmitt too, they were pioneers even wayne wong,

but that wasn't really newschool

Glen Plake, Scot Schmidt, Robb Gaffney,

Plake

McConkey

Hate to admit it but Johny Mosley

Salomon Dynastar and the other companies who produced twins at first.

Dont get mad for people saying pep and tanner and pollard a lot of people on this site are between 13-18 years old and that is what they remember and thats who it was for them.

Josh Frazier, Griffin Cummings and Eric Pollard are the west coast godfathers. they made the first twin tip in a garage and sold the idea to salomon. so that sounds like a movement to me.

"And this was before they had any twin-tips. They were riding huge 200 centimeter skis. They were such rebels, and so far ahead of everyone that no one would listen to them. They were the first to do ollies on skis, and they were sliding logs back in the day. And they did it all with good style. They were the originators of what everyone’s doing today. "

Now there is a very reasonable answer, and true for the younger Generation it might be other people but the name Godfather is owned by Mike Douglas for most of us

too hard to pick a 'godfather' of skiing because too many ppl contributed to newschool skiing. im surprised that noone has mentioned JF cusson - hes been killin it for years
