The quadrennial exodus to Canada

you can have em, just dont come crying to us when you lose all social programs

Not this time, the Conservatives are restricting immigrant demands and rising the prerequisits making it more difficult to become a canadien citizen. Either you have to own a oil company, or you send a bribe to Jason Kenney (it has to be more than 10,000$), he will have power to bypass the immigration process if his bill passes.

So americans, use these words of wisdom: ''Dont ask what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.''

I loled, ha. I have to agree though the shear amount of foreign people pouring into our country is ridiculous. I dont have any problems with people having different skin colors and cultures whatever but when no one can understand my language its super frustrating.

Maple Leaf Pork has brought in so many immigrants into my city that the vacancy rate is well under 1% and its a nightmare because I'm just going to be sitting on waiting lists for a half decent apartment forever. Kind of sucks. Owell

Whoops mobile. So yeah I'll just be living at home for some time longer which kind of sucks. I guess it could be worse. I could be living on a reserve, and those are some serious shitholes if you've never been through one.

If they were white they'd still be foreign people? So it would still be ridiculous? If you think white people coming in is different than other races of foreign people then you are being racist. Also, you think it's frustrating when the minory can't speak your language? Try to empathize how frustrating it is when the majority can't speak your language and hate you for it.

Dammit there is so much racism here can we just call that out. Our self righteous entitlement to land we've inhabited for fucking like 300 years is stupid as shit. Oh but wait, maybe we're afraid because, having killed millions of natives and taking the land we know how shitting foreign invaders can be...

colonialism. We all know it was bad, yet we don't feel bad, and we would be happy to benefit.

because survival of the fittest

sorry you eat fucking corn and live in a tent your whole life. not my problem my country dominates your village

@ puns I'm allowed to have my own personal preference. And if I said skin color earlier thats not really what I meant, I meant people who never speak English or take part in Canadian culture but instead try to turn Markam into Mumbai. Just my preference.

You go to Guelph right? If you came to UofT i bet you would see my frustration

^ Yeah I mean trying to keep one dominant culture to keep the majority comfortable is nice, but I just would imagine people who have to deal with not fitting in at all because their culture is the huge minority and then being disliked because of your culture would suck a lot. Yeah Guelph is pretty white, but I also lived in Vancouver/Burnaby for a while so I've experienced it.

Ok maybe your right, but the amount of immigrants in city's very close to me is astounding. Yesterday I was waiting in a line of around 100 people. Not ONE FUCKING PERSON WAS WEARING A POPPY. Well guess what, they were all Indian's. Now i'm not a racist, but Jesus Christ, show some fucking respect for the country you are currently living in. I don't mind immigrants, but when they are ignorant to the history of the country they are living in, that's when they piss me off.

Meh I think Nationalism is pretty silly too, for the reasons in the post you quotes. People could have been fighting against the Candian's, or had a completely different experience or take on the war, or just don't support the fighting at all. I am not sure it's that rediculous, but then again I don't think people should have to sign O Canada, so I am clearly some derogatory word that can't remember...

That being said, I went through Canadian customs yesterday and there were quite a lot of people wearing poppies.

What no. If i moved to a different country say Germany for example i would make it a damn good effort to learn to speak fluent German. They can be frustrated all they want they chose to leave home to come here so now the consequence is they gotta learn to speak the language. I would never move china and then be all upset that no one spoke english. And of course white people would still be foreign people but there is a much higher chance that they already know how to speak english and therefore less frustrating.

They should have to learn some of history and they damn well should be wearing poppies if they knew what they stood for. The reason they have the opportunity to immigrate to this country is because millions of men gave their lives and are now buried under those poppies. And if they are becoming Canadian citizens then they are expected to contribute to Canada, singing our national anthem and having some Canadian pride is a good way to start.

Look, if any American citizen wants to bail on the US because Obama won re-election, please just get the fuck out. I'm not happy with our economy, our president or our government as a whole but I would never ever ever ever trade my citizenship to go live in Canada let alone another country. Honestly, if you're not happy here and hate the USA so much I will help you pack your bags. Shit, I'll even drive you across the border as long as you promise not to come back when you're missing home. Good riddance, cunts.

Who the fuck is talking about the exodus to Canada because Obama won? it would seem the intense liberals would be the likely vocal ”im moving to Canada” crowd if Romney won. Just dig on NS from 2004 when a bunch of bitches were moaning when Kerry (aka super rich guy but hes liberal so its all good) lost.

I think you can choose to live in a country and not be proud of it. What are the chances that the circumstances in your life happened to place you in the country of your choosing? Most people were just born in the country they live in. If you disagree with your country why should you have to be proud? Granted, this applies less to people choosing where to live, but I imagine that the choice is often forced by some circumstances. You can also not be proud of a country and have that drive you to contribute even.

I'm sorry, did somebody say your team wasn't the best on the planet? People don't choose where they're born. If you have questioned it and still prefer the U.S., more power to you. If you think you're somehow inherently special for being from the U.S., just fucking stay there. The rest of the world doesn't want you.

Um, you clearly misunderstood. I'm saying to the people who are saying they'll move because they're butthurt over an election. It's fucking stupid, just suck it up and try again in 4 years. And anyone can proud of the country they're from. I didn't choose to be born in the US but I'm sure as shit that I wouldn't want to be born and raised anywhere else.

Canada is beautiful, I just wouldn't choose to live there for an extended period of time. Maybe I'll spend some time traveling from coast to coast.

you'd be saying the exact same thing if you were born and raised in practically any first world nation. truth.

"Patriotism is the belief that your country is the greatest simply because you were born there". However the USA is pretty damn good, at least the good parts are

no definatly not trolling. An example of trolling is "America is a legedimatly wonderfull country because of how fairly it treats all members of society"

Considering that I've lived about 100 miles (167kms) from Canada my whole life, I figure I'll just slip unnoticed under her skirt if the time ever comes.
Somehow, Montana kept a Democratic governor and Tester in office, so I'm hyped and staying put.
