THE PHILOSOPHY OF LONGBOARDING

By Chris Rempel

Longboarding is not about ollies and kickflips; the only real trick

involved in longboarding is being able to enjoy riding no matter

what your ability is or what the conditions are like.

Longboarding is not about trying to be something you're not - it's

about being who you are.

Longboarding is not about sponsorships, contracts or stopwatches;

your sponsor is the road, and the only contract you sign is with

yourself. It's about simplicity. Longboarding transforms a trip to

the grocery store from a monotonous annoyance into an adventure.

It's about remembering that there's more to life than money and

schedules as you feel gravity locking your feet into the board on a

tight carve.

It's about having more fun walking up the hill with friends than

carving down by yourself.

Longboarding is more than a fancy piece of wood with wheels on it;

it's an attitude. It's about enjoying a ride on broken pavement 400

miles from the nearest ocean just as much as a perfect barrel ride

in ten foot surf. Don't just ride; enjoy the ride.

^^^ This guy hooked me up as a longboard product reviewer. basically, companies send me longboards and gear, I review it, send it to him, and he posts the reviews on his website. I keep all of the gear I review.

Looks like you have a real simple yet effective writing style (works well for the topic), that's real sick that you landed a job like that.

yeah... this is from a chick that lives done the hall from me.

wow man, that is an awesome quote. i have been looking for rambler-style quotes for a while to get tattooed. that made my list.

thats pretty legit. its kinda true though im always pumped about riding with a fellow longboarder even if i barely know them, but nothing is worse than an uptight longboarder always worried about going faster and racing and stuff, its just not the point

Doesn't have to! That what this thread is about! Some like going real fast down big hills, and know that if they fall, they lose 2 pounds of skin to concrete, but they enjoy it. Others like skating instead of walking on straight streets, I personally enjoy going down mellow steeps carving tight and giving some small slides... You can ride the way you like best and don't have to make it dangerous

Yea the other day I was flying down college and i turned onto south willard and hit the curb because i didnt make the turn... flew off my board, over the sidewalk and hit the fence. Some dude grabbed my board out of the road and gave it to me...I learned then that i love burlington vt and longboarding more than i had ever knew

I couldn't agree more. The same philosophy applies to skiing as well i think.

that seems like a great job man. that philosophy seems so true, and when i longboard i just stay true to myself and have a good time.
