I, to be quite frank, really don't care enough to waste $15 to see this movie. I'll rent the DVD when it comes out, if I have nothing else to do. Maybe. It's only a movie, get over it.

it's not asnti-semitic though...Mel Gibson even put himself in the movie, nailing him to the cross, because he wanted to bring the message that EVERYBODY nailed Jesus to the cross because of their sins.

That movie wasn't anti semetic. The media just needed something to talk about and blew it out of proportion. If the Jews have a problem with it they are retarded. I swear they just want something to whine about.

Second, Jews didn't even 'partially' put Jesus to death; learn about who the Pharisees really were, and learn about how biased the New Testament is before making assumptions.

It doesn't really matter anyway... I don't see why everyone makes such a big deal about the death of just one of many false messiahs. ;)

I haven't seen it yet. But from the interviews with Mr. Gibson I've read about and watched I've come to the conclussion that he's not trying to convey his opinion on any religious aspect. I think what Gibson was trying to do is recreate the last 12 hours of Jesus' life how it would have been exactly like if someone had documented the whole thing on camera back then. Then again, I haven't seen it yet. But I want to.

i think it was a very well done movie and dont see what all this whining shit is about. its not anti semetic at all, he was just showing what happenend to jesus.. so god damn all you mother fuckers stop whining about whats wrong with it. it was gory and very well portrayed

It was alright. Kind of boring. It was just 2 hours of jesus getting the shit beat out of him. He was a pretty tough guy. The subtitles didn't bother me like I thought they would. 7/10

i have watched so many foreign films for my college class, so the subtitles didnt bother me. but i also have been taking a christianity course and our professor just goes off about the inaccuracies. personally, i think it gave the message it needed it intended to. as for the inaccuracies, i thought it was interesting they showed him nailed through the hands, which he was actually nailed through the wrists, the hands image was devolped from medieval christian art, along with the cross, which wasnt what the actual cross looked like either. oh well tho, i thought it was pretty intense, and personally i found it hard not to cry.

 
I totally agree with you. the film was more of a visual representation of the torture Christ went through as described in scripture, and the inaccuracies were there only for more effect. I think its a movie everyone should see, because whether or not you believe Jesus was the son of god this stuff really happened. and its intense. and its worth 8 bucks or 6 for matinee.

it was good, but it wasnt as deep as i thought it would be. the only real sybolism in the movie was the character of Satan

i go to a private college which means the student body is made up of about 90% jews. some are cool and what i would deem as 'normal', BUT some of them drive me crazy because they dwell on oppression almost as much as some blacks do. its like everything is meant to be offensive when you say something. they feel as though they are the 'chosen people', which basically puts others on the outside of their ethnic clique. if they didnt want to be criticized for the wrath enflicted on jesus, then perhaps they should have just left him alone.

 
i dont see how its anti-semetic at all, its the fucking truth so deal with it, people try to make a big issue about every fucking thing, if you think it will offend you then dont go fucking see it and quit your bitching, i give props to mel gibson for doing this movie it took alot of guts and it was about time some one did a movie based on religion!

 
The movie was very well done, it wasn't biased and it is something I think everybody needed to see. I think the symbolism was much more then just satan, the crow was very symbolic at the end, parts with Judas and the camel and the possessed children, the reactions of peter when he betrayed jesus were all very well put together. The weather at the end was a huge symbol, the things jesus did for people, for example the guard who got his ear cut off another symbol.

There weren't a lot of in accuracies with the movie and if you read or watched some of the interviews with mel gibson he told us what he followed and what things he added. I don't think any of those things were inaccurate other then the fact that it wasn't wrote in the bible, i think it helped to explain many things, and give us a more educated idea.

I know it was a constant beating of Jesus, but many people don't realize what he really went through, and the way he reacted to those who opposed them. I think it was a great movie and something everyone should see.

it was amazing......i have never felt closer to God and Jesus, it was just a bunch of jew sensationalism when it said it was anti semitic......it was really anti roman(excluding pilate) jim caviezel does a great job portraying jesus and it was so moving that it was impossible not to shed tears throughout the movie......im seein it again soon

mad... i didnt mean that there wasnt other symbolism, but the rest of the symbolism was a lot more explicit and rather obvious. i was expecting a little more i guess. i forgot about the dead camel when judas wakes up, that was probably the best symbol of the movie

I don't understand how any of you can say anything about the bible or about any inaccuracies, you weren't there at the time it was written, you weren't there at the time all of this stuff happened. The only thing you can really do is read it and choose to believe or not to believe. If you don't believe you can't criticize, you can say nothing more then that you don't believe, you can't back up your facts about the bible, and no critic can.

i spent an entire semester taking a class called THE BIBLE. we tore it apart and analyzed it. it is FULL of historical innacuracies, along with contradictions. difference BIBLES say different things. its not just a matter of believing what you want, its looking at it and realizing that there is much error to it.

 
wasnt based on oral history at all, BUT it was transcribed many times, which is a main attributing factor to fallicies.

i thought this was interesting, because i can sort of see where the guy was coming from, bein an atheist who went dressed up as the devil and just watched the movie, he got a lot of crap, even a 70 year old lady dumped a pop on his head and he eventually got kicked out. he thinks that if he cant dress up as the devil then star wars freaks shouldnt be able to dress up when they go to the movies either.

personally, if i would have seen someone dressed up as the devil, i would feel it was disrespectful, even if he was dressed as jesus, but that doesnt give me permission to throw things at him.

And for the people who are ripping on the Jewish people, the reason the leaders are against the movie is because Hitler's hate for Jews began partly because he watched a passion play. Now really, does anyone want another Hitler on Earth?

The movie kind of runes your day in a way. Just the suffering of one man.

As for the bible, why would some people waste there time writing nonsense in a thousand paper book? Thats the only things that strikes me as odd. And I would have to say the Gospels (matthew, Mark, luke, John) would have to be the most accurate because i believe they were writen less and 100 years after Jesus was around. And thats the time that is most debatable. And 4 sources is a pretty good amount for back then.

And I also heard a majority of people believe the Bible and God is all true, but dont really follow it. I could say I am that way. I believe in it all that jazz, just dont really follow it. Any one else with me?
