The park ski for me?

Right now I ski on the Line prophet 80's and love them. I rip all Mt about 90% of the time, but with the crappy conditions I have been getting into the park more. I’m 5'11 180lb, beginner when it comes to park: Can land switch and hit boxes, and that’s about it.

With some of the great deal I have been seeing due to the limited amount of snow on the east coast was wondering if I should look into a pure park ski (any recommendation plz) or stick with my prophets?

Try to pick up something used cheap. As much as you ski all mountain, it wouldn't necessarily be worth it to puy a full on park ski at retail, especially if later you decide you don't like it.

how long are your prophets? i got 179 PE's last year, they're mounted +3 from recommended i believe, i use them for all mountain. but, like you said, due to the shitty snow, i got some park skis. i got 179 fujatives, they're centered, and they rip harder all mountain than they do in the park. it really suprised me. it just depends what you buy. i've ridden my friend's 162 invaders, and at any speed at all i can feel them chattering, and i feel like i'm on snowblades. i've also heard that the scratch FS are good for a combo of park/all mountain as well.

i have centered 179 fujatives as well and i would rather take them off and walk down the hill then ride them down (asides from park). But hey, its all personal preference i guess.

really? i centered mine and had no intention of riding them all mountain, but decided what the hell and tried them. i absolutely love them, they're so fun.

My Prophets are 176, I have demo both PE's and Foils at the end of last season....the PE's were ok but I hated the Foils, I like a stiffer ski I guess. I was mostlikly goin to buy something used b/c there is no point in buying a brand new ski purely for park since I am a beginner in that sense. I have been looking at the Ar5 or Ar6, as well are the invaders since I like my prophets so much, but how do these ski's compare to the fujatives? I guess I need something that is a bit forgiving and something that will help me learn.

just a guess, but did you core center them, aka where it says center on the side? cause that's the center of the sidecut, not center of the skis, center of the skis is another 3 or so CMs forward of that.

id say a 180 u could go for 175ish too if u like ur skis shorter

since ur a pretty big guy i would say u want a stiffer ski so maybe check the karma for starters, from there maybe check the rossi FS, Salomon thrusters/foils, even line chronics...pretty much the door is wide open but i suggest demoing or renting from ur shop and seeing what u like...that always works best

Well the biggest I would go is around 175,and yes I like a stiffer ski but I wanna stay away from the karma's and other all mt/park ski and look are more of a pure park ski.

So would the Fujative 169, or Ar5/Ar6 in a 171 or 176, or invaders in a 171 or 178 be my best choices. I dont know, it is better to get a bigger or small ski when learning to ski park??

ok man, heres my advice. for your sive and weight, the prophets are a bit on the short side. but that is a bit stiffer ski, and not a full twin (i believe), so its prolly ok for all mountain.

so you have a couple options.

1. keep the phophets, and buy a cheap park only ski

2. sell prophets and get 1 do everything ski

depending on the condition of the skis you have now, i would recomend a cheaper park ski. this season, i recently got a pair of silencers, with the intention of it being a hold me over till the 08 4frnts came out (i kinda ride for them, its wierd). anyway, the ski blew me away. wicked fun. i too am not a big fan of the current public enemey, however, the older one, which the silencer is based on, was great. its a fairly stiff ski, but it does break in a bit. im 5'10", 155, and can butter them easily enough. and its very very poppy and energetic. not to mention they are DIRT cheap. someone posted a link somewhere, they were like, 209 or something, thats cheap. the cost of those skis is 151, so the retailer only makes 50 bucks on them, and thats as cheap as your gonna find them.

its a pretty good all mountain ski as well, but its a little chattery due to the cap construction. but as a park ski, its great. get the 179, obviously, and mount them at core center, which actually is a few cm back from dead. get on ebay, and snag some p12s. it can be lifted or whatnot, it doesnt matter (pull the plates off). those can prolly be found for 100-150 new or slightly used. there you have a sick park setup for about 300 bucks, and thats as good as your gonna get.

just to add, im 5'11 too and just under 200 pounds. similar situation, i can ski anything but park is new to me. i can hit boxes and rails but im not a big spinner, altho 3s and zeros and switch stuff is fine. would silencers be hot for me? i can get some cheapish ones and stick some fischer bindings on them from old skis.

They are just a bit more of a traditional type park ski. You've got 80mm underfoot, just a different sidecut than you have with invaders or fujatives. Fujatives and Invaders are both noodles. I'd say the Fujatives are probably a bit stiffer since they are supposed to be solid underfoot, but dont quote me on that. Remember the invader is symmetrical, Fujatives can be center mounted or you can ski them at core, or anywhere in between. If you get a soft ski you should rock the 180's, dont be a pussy. Remember the 80s are a bit stiffer compared to the park noodles your after, you would overpower 175 cm in Invaders or Fujatives.

Ok so understand what ur sayin is by goin w/ a semi all mt ski will help b/c its stiffer. So the chronics would be my best bet?
