The Origins Of No Poles

i think one of the people he's referring to is griffin cummings, and those mt. hood kids (including pollard) were rocking no poles right at the birth of twin-tips.

on a seperate note, my buddy broke his thumb in 1996ish and couldn't use a pole due to his hand cast. he rocked the no poles for like 2 more seasons because he loved it. but there was no park skiing back then at our tiny NY hill, so it wasn't very "newschool".

When I was 5 or so my mommy forgot to pack my poles in the car, and when we got to the hill, it was too late to turn around, so I skied without my poles for a whole day.

Now a whole new generation of skiers are choosing to look as awkward as I did on that special day.

Your welcome.

your a fuckin retard....want me to post pics from brighton pre-season, aka september, tom with no poles?

after andy n pep edit my ass

GO FUCK YOUSELF and i say that in the nicest of ways

yah back in the day like real oldschool they only had one pole and it wasnt no light aluminum or carbon or anything it was a fucking log yah no poles evolved from the people who got tired from carrying logs all day

snowblading, or aerials.    anwyas the point is no poles is gay, and when you don't have poles you don't have a dick, and then you take it up the bum.  its clearly logical.

the first person i saw who kills in the park use no poles is ryaniscool last season in one of his edits. and then i went to ski camp and some of the coaches and a few campers started to stop using poles

no poles originated whenever a steezy sport like snowboarding came out. no other sport uses these style wrecking pieces of metal

YAY FOR NO POLES!! it all started when the bears ate ronny longstems arms but he had to get down the mountain some how..right?

we should all thank someone named doug funnie..a true inevater of the sport of no pole skiing

I have to disagree with that, yes skiing has taken alot from snowboarding, but i strongly believe that even without snowboarding, we would of gotten to where we are now eventually on our own.

You have 300 something posts, and thus cannot call anyone a newb. Your post lacks creativity, and your insults are so last year. Go find a tennybopper forum where your nonsensical hating will be lauded.

pollard was the first pro i saw who wasnt using poles. i wasnt sold on the idea. even during the beginning of the mahre drama i wasnt sold.

i am pretty much sold now on the no poles deal, but navigating the hectic lift lines is such a bitch without those sticks.

anyone got helpful tips? my edges on my PEs are completely dull so thats part of the issue.

you speak as though having only 300 posts is a bad thing you fuck. I've been on this site for a couple years now and i only have a couple hundred posts. I've been skiing since i was 3 years old. In my opinion having 3000 posts is far worse then 300 posts, because it just proves that you clearly have to much time on your hands. Why don't you go skiing instead of posting comments about it

haha i can't wait until snowboarders think they are the bomb for using poles, just think about it,"yo lets take a pole run duuuuude" It will take palce sometime soon all skiers will throw there poles out, and snowboarders will take them, maybe not idk

i think it started when someone either

a)lost their poles

B)got their poles stolen

C)forgot there poles at home

or they just didnt want poles and snowbladers are so gay

i second that--griffin, josh frazier and other people from mt. hood were definitely the originators. griffin was the only one on the blackcomb glacier skiing no poles in 1999.

it started when people broke there hands, and couldnt ski with poles but still wanted to ski, but wanted to keep there skis long so they wouldnt be gay.
