The Opening Day Edit (contest?)

OK SO,

this is my idea. It literally came to me in my sleep. Kind of a follow up on the Salomon summer edit contest.....THIS IS JUST AN IDEA, ITS NOT SPONSORED BY ANYONE, BUT HOPEFULLY IT WILL CATCH ON AND NS CAN TAKE OVER....assuming that you guys like the idea.

In the next few months, ski areas all around the northern hemisphere will be opening for the 08-09 season. "Opening Day" is notorious in many areas to be a day in which way to many skiers/snowboarders pack into a very small area with a very large amount of "stoke".

This seems like a perfect time to share the "vibes" from each hill from the people on NS, as well as the masses of creative things that go down on pathetic opening day mini jibs. (everybody likes an edit with a nice feel and creative skiing)

ok, so heres how it would work. Post your home hill/mountain/slopes scheduled opening day the first time you see this. When that day comes, film an edit, make it nice and put it in this thread. The footy, theoretically should only be from that day, but there is some trust involved. That way, poeple should not be able to film at A-basin for like a month before anyone else even gets a chance. To prove it, film something that showes the opening date/location, and quote youself on the date/location that you posted pre opening day, so the two dates/locations match.

The purpose of these edit is to show how fuckin stoked people get on opening day, and really, how much fun opening day really is. As of now, if it doesnt catch on, this is a contest of pride, but hopefully NS will like the idea and do something with it.
 
oh yeah, i live in steamboat and opening day is on nov 26

and lets make the deadline like december 10th or so..how that sound?
 
sick idea for sure, but east coast opens sometimes a month after mountains out west. thats the only problem. maybe have two parts, west coast first day, and east coast first day
 
cool idea. except i still have to kind of hope that my mountain will be open by dec. 10th ahahaha
 
Swwet idea. Im not going to be entering though but i'd like to see your edits. Theres also some advantage to the guys who ski on bigger resorts but you cant really do anything about it
 
ok so lets just say like jan 1st is the deadline. and the point of this is to NOT give bigger resorts the advantage, seeing as all opening days jibs are similar at most hills, and you can really only film for one day.
 
Big white opens Nov. 27 right now.... last year they were later than that...I'm getting weird all I wanna do is drop my Bibbys on the snow

question could pre-season boot packing be accepted in this edit contest???
 
PM bishop about the idea, and maybe pm or send emails to a few companies to see if they'll sponsor it, like Line_Skis or schmies (k2).
 
i love this idea, and i promise to participate. jay peak opening day, hopefully late november. expect onepieces and catroad spins!
 
how bout all videos have to be in the day after the particular mountain it was filmed at opens? the mountain's web-site will verify this.
 
sounds like a good plan but theres no way everyones gonna stick to the OPENING day thing. when theres shwag involved people tend to "cheat" a bit more
 
thats true. but thats why its based on a code of honor. hahahah

i might be in on this, and i ride kissing bridge and if we get lucky itll be open dec 15th

and big boulder opens here in pa like mid november. so stokkeddd! but my home mountain Ski Roundtop doesnt open till probably sometime in december but were having a preseason rail jam i think in early november. so i guess what i want to ask/ add does it have to be your home mtn? or can it be the earliest opening mtn near you?
 
film 2 opening days one good edit at boulder and one (probably not as good) at roundtop with all of the six rails they will have setup.
 
I live in Pa and It's anyone's guess when the opening day at Peek'n Peak will be. Last year it wasn't till after the holidays if I remember correctly.
 
Great idea. i think mid Dec would be a good cut off date my mountain is always late to open. I also like the east coast/west coast idea but whatever works will still be sweet.

everyones so stoked

last year i kept fallin and so when i hiked up i was like "im gonna fuckin quit skiien"

and the snowboarder was like "THATS WHAT I LIKE TO HEAR!!!"

god i couldn't stop laughing
 
Well you havent been to my home resort sir. If we're lucky there will be one shitty rail and two runs open that are both less than 100m. Then compare that to the guy who said that they're going to have a pipe open!

Although im not entering, since i dont know anyone with a video cam, but just making my point clear. Never the less its going to be an awesome contest, especially if you'll get some prizes sponzored by some one.
