The Only Positive From Covid

So my fiancé and I have been engaged for about a year and a half now. We had a medium sized wedding planned for May but planning it during covid was an absolute nightmare. Important family wouldn’t be able to make the trip, caterers stopped returning our calls going out of business, and we ended up postponing it indefinitely. We were refunded most of our money but ended up costing us a little less than a grand. Shit happens.

We initially planned a beach elopement at the end of August but I started a new job and couldn’t get the time off so we had to put it off agaaaiinnn. At this point we really just want to be married and even played with the idea of just going to the courthouse, making if official, and having a celebration later on down the road. Maybe a one year anniversary celebration with the family or something.

So my fiancé loves skiing but admittedly not nearly as much as I do so I never really pushed the idea of a winter wedding on the mountain. That was never ideal for her and the location isn’t extremely important to me so I went along with our original plans and would have been happy if they came to fruition. I happened to propose to her on a ski run while taking a trip and last week, out of nowhere, she suggested that we elope to a ski in/ski out which of course is what I would do if it were 100% up to me.

Now, we have an enormous 6 room house in the San Juan’s booked with acreage and mountain views for a small ceremony only minutes away from skiing. Our immediate family will be there as well for an intimate experience.

And then, we clutched 3 nights in a hella luxurious rental steps away from one of the lifts in downtown Telluride for a mini honeymoon right afterwards.

If you’ve read my essay thus far, I wrote all of it to say that covid has seriously fucked all of our lives up but, in this instance, I think plans turned out for the better. Now I get to ski down that same run I proposed on wearing my suit while she struggles in her wedding dress and our photographer tries her hardest to take action shots and I really wouldn’t have it any other way.

She says yes to both after seeing this comment and I’d have to agree

Also, we got a borderline milf situation with an unhappy relationship with step dad. Could be prime opportunity for you my guy

Nah, you're still just a clown married to a gold digging slut that feels the need to spend $50k to "prove" your commitment to each another. You're not unique or special for being forced to have a smaller ceremony while still spending the same absurd amount of money.

I give you 5 years until divorce.

Your wedding celebration must be going well if you're spending every minute checking for responses to your self-congratulatory thread on NS.

Correction, your marriage will last 4 years.

Interesting.

Word got out to the world at large?

Thought the idea was to log in first, THEN discover cringiness.

If you can make it through this much togetherness, you can make it through anything. Cheers brother.
