The Olympics

openings and clsoings are my favorite it shows so much of each culture and they are so well planned its sick

anyone else seeing this "chinese taipei" shit. they refuse to acknowledge them as taiwan. how the fuck did they get the olympics

did you realize that nbc just skipped the entire communist take over in china in the opening history section

its one of the most important events of the 20 century and just because people in america may not agree people should see how chinese view that period

I've never really been attracted to Asains, but dayumm...those soldiers in the beginning were hot.

It's been such a spectacular opening ceremony. Loved it.

I can't wait to watch 3-day eventing.

BTW That clydesdale Budweiser commercial was the shit.

humidity was ridiculous, it felt hotter than it did during the day, at least it didn't rain. its funny you're still watching as it happened 12 hours ago, but they take awhile to light the torch, though the final guy does some funny stuff acting like superman and air running with wires.

wow opening ceremony was awesome so well done
when the torch was being run by the last guy it was kindof trippy with the background, it actually looked like he was running on something. kindof funny when he got ahead of the screen though

The light up suits were incredible. By far the best opening ceremonies in history. Vancouver's Olympics unfortunately won't stand a chance in competing with that.

Ugh, don't say that word. That's a bad word. Forbidden. Wetness is not the essence of beauty in that case.

I really wanted to watch them live. I don't care if they were gonna play them at 8am.

AJ, I've seen worse. BTW Can I have what's-his-face back?

my friend hooked up with alicia sacramoni in 9th grade, shes from our town and is on the girls gymnastics team

i heard the chinese wanted to add a "dog eating competition" as an event to the olympics but the olympic comittee declined, responding "Jesus fucking Christ China, How the fuck did you get the olympics you fucking perverts"

they're sooo far ahead of us, technology wise .....openings were best in history by far!!! i couldn't believe taht keyboard lookin thing taht made all those symbols were people in there

Soooooo far. Great Britain and the rest of Europe are pretty far ahead of us too.

I'm so happy that there is coverage on so many different channels. I actually got to watch dressage.

it's weird seeing the forbidden city and Tien an men squre knowing that i was there four years ago,

GO USA

\as a chinese kid, ive been to china many times, and see what its really like. yeah they have amazing architectural structures and can put on some mindblowing shows, but its really all the doing of the government. my motherland spent 50 BILLION dollars on the olympics, which is a ridiculous amount. the US would never do that, and thats why they can put on such a better show. the birds nest and water bubble stadiums are government owned, and paid for by the government, so they can spend as much money as they want. in the us, all stadiums are privately owned, and the government wouldve hired a private contractor to build a stadium. the us's way is a ton better, because it provides better living conditions for the workers. the govt gives the company money, the people in the company get richer, people buy that company's stocks, and in turn they also get richer. in china, they just get a stadium. theyre really not technologically advanced. some examples are that they just sent their first man into space a few years ago, less than 1% of people there own a credit card nevermind use them, and many people still dont have cell phones. you go to shanghai and from far away, its the most amazing city in the world, but when you get close, you see that between those gorgeous buildings are run down shacks with dirty clothes lines and people in wifebeaters and boxers selling fish in buckets, along with fruit with bugs flying around them. furthermore, the us is always on the front lines of technological breakthroughs. its the us that discovers and invents things, china just produces them. china is still just playing catchup.

i know my writing is all over the place, cause i just write down whatever pops into my head, no need for organization

that aside, it definitely was indeed the best opening ceremony ever. everything was amazing about it, from the drummers, to the boxes and the waves. the sickest part i thought was the circle of tai chi masters. there were 2008 of them standing in a perfect circle, knowing where to go only by judging the people next to them. the boat and ship thing was sick too, and same with the torch lighting. dont get me wrong i love china, but i dont like it when people say theyre better than the us
