Thoughts and comments?

After the last airbump there are only 4 moguls. Is this course easier than previous courses?

I feel like some of those girls could do better at slope than most slope riders given the chance to work on their rail games a bit

First round: 20 skiers

Second Round: 12 Skiers

Third Round: 6 skiers.

Places in first two rounds reset start order. Best score in third round wins.

Knowing that 360's score the same as a twister spread I don't can't understand why every woman seems to be doing a helicopter, and a back flip either tucked, X, or laid out it kind of takes the free out of freestyle.

I'm thinking the men will destroy this course in the 20-22 second range.

anybody catch the woman wearing the B&E pro model?

i dont know what country her flag is, but she's the one who keeps doing a front and a back in her runs

Kari Traa's run in 2006 where she won Silver she got robbed by Jenn Heli.

Had Hannah Kearney not had the two technical bobbles on her 3rd run, and a stronger 1st run she would have had Silver, and it would have been a hair splitting decision for 1st place. I'm happy for Canada, but on the Hannahs last run I was rooting for her.

hannah had she been scored proper, possibly wouldn't have even made it to super final...let alone getting 3rd with a MASSIVE break out of the top air. but hey having the name helps ;)

Stoked for the sisters!!:)

After watching men's moguls, I gotta say, this sport's a lot crazier than I remember from 4 years ago. I think it's pretty cool that grabs are getting thrown in (anyone see that truck-driver!?), and now some even have cork 10s. Does anyone on NS do freestyle moguls? Would love to hear someone's take on it who's been in the sport.

Im really into it now. I had never really watched it but i have to say i like it. I havent competed but i would love to get more involved in it

I'm a bump skier! Been competing on the NorAm circuit for years. If you're interested in the sport, go check out a documentary project I'm working on about mogul skiing. It's featuring many of the skiers you've been watching in the Olympics. Should have the film done by the end of the summer!

I think the sport is in a really cool place right now and it's only getting better.

Can someone explain to me the difference between a back double full and an ungrabbed cork 10?

A back double full is a backflip with 720 degrees of spin (on axis). The ungrabbed cork 10s are (slightly) off axis

QUESTION: WHAT IS THE STATE OF THIS SPORT? [/b]

I was going to make a separate thread but then this was here. Watching it again I realized how badass olympic moguls is, but I feel as though there is a decline in participation because of park skiing. Which would suck if that's the case.

fake and gay

But seriously moguls would be dope af if it was anything goes on the jumps. Judging would be a nightmare though just as it is in freeskiing

I love moguls because it's pretty fucking straight forward what you have to do. Go fast, clean turns/knees/upper body, and make your jumps are as good as the next guy. I've been watching this shit for 4 Olympics now and I never remember a shocking score where I felt someone was robbed.

Stoked that Canada killed it!

I'm stoked Alex Bilodeau took his 2nd gold last night. How happy it made his brother Frederic was fucking awesome to watch.

Well, first off, you are wrong. And second, I don't think Holte was actually questioning the difference merely noting that the two are very similar.

you said a back double full is a d spin 7

maybe just a typo, but a back full is pretty much a d7

back double full is pretty much d10 or cork 10

Back full and D-Spin are essentially the same tricks. D-Spin is ever so slightly off axis and is usually done with the knees bent and making an X. A back full is pinned out and completely on axis.

Back double full is a backflip 720 completely on axis and pinned out. They usually tilt a little off axis on these just due to the 720 but for the most part they are on axis.

The big difference really is that you stay perfectly in line and layed out in full/double full.
