I'm running off the theory that God was wasted for a good chunk of the Old Testament. Then in the New Testament, suddenly he's a family man. He's got a kid, and new responsibilities. No more late night benders with Gabriel. Sure, he might not be the wild party animal he was, and the angels might sit and tell stories of that time that God flooded the world on a bet from The Metatron, and almost didn't get up through his hangover to warn that Noah guy, but he's really leveled out, become more stable.
 
old testament was all fire and brimstone and kicking ass, and the new testament was more of a hippy love fest. GOD IS A FLIP-FLOPPER!

man, religion is corrupt by human nature, in a way, religion is wacked based on the fact that humans created it, maybe some are better than others, maybe all their creators had good intentions at the time of their birth, but i dont need to fear no fucking god to konw who i am
 
you just might be on to something brilliant.

the old testament is not a historical text. it's a compilation of symbolic stories that may or may not be accounts of actual events. i wouldn't say it's "bad" by any means, just not very relevant for some people.
 
so if a=b and b=c then a=c: god=flipflopper and flipflopper=john kerry, so god=john kerry. i either just proved simple algebra, religion, or both very wrong. god is definatley not john kerry.
 
the old testament is the Tanakh, the jewish holy book. it was adopted by the christian faith. then subsiquently hacked to peices through generations of translation/revision. but if you ever had somone translate the the acutal texts (or know biblical hebrew)you will find that the texts are rich with humor and satire. The Old testament/Tanakh is adapted from an older mythology called the Epic of Gilgamesh. one of the main chariters, Enkidu gets drunk and beacomes mortal..i'm not sure what that means... but you can incorporate that into your theory
 
it's ok to question your faith. but you'll come back to Christ. He'll always be there nagging you. what is there now... parties? girls? try to look past the here and now and visualize a life in eternity with our Savior. praise God!
 
But what if he was? What if we voted against God in the last election? Would that mean that America is going to hell? Or just 49% of us?

I was tempted to applaud... I think your theory has legs, I really do. It might explain all that stuff about shellfish and so forth, too.
 
i have no problem with religion (not being a religious person myself) but i do, however, have a problem with mixing religion and humanity. i am perfectly fine with the christian and catholic religions because they still work and cope with the modern world just fine. but other religions such as muslim where their women have to be completely covered up at all times and the fact that they believe that the rest of the world should all follow their religion cause they think theirs is the best. this doesnt work with modern society and has caused problems everywhere.
 
that logic doesnt play out,

both god and john kerry are seen as examples of flipfloppers. The transitive property would require a unique solution.

Being a Christian could be something you like if you gave it half a chance.

Choosing to believe and put your faith in something that you cannot see is a powerful thing. You'll soon see that God is very real.
