I think it's more a lifestyle thing for me...I'm gonna come off as a huge douche saying this but even with the copious amounts of THC I was putting into my system, I think the difference is that I'm not like a stereotypical stoner...I've never let weed get in the way of my life in major ways you know? I go to an excellent school, still go to class and get all of my work done, study my ass off, work out all the time and eat healthily, go out all the time with my friends, etc even if all of this is happening when I'm cooked. So when I finally did find the willpower to make that initial stop in smoking (which was extremely difficult - I said I was going to do it so many times in the past few months), I still had my routine to back me up. If I stay busy throughout the entire day, it hasn't really crossed my mind all that much, until I get in bed and can't sleep...
oh well. That'll fix itself eventually. Not sure if I'm going to stop smoking completely for months on end...this was more of a test for me to prove to myself that I could stop seeing I know I'm going to have to stop this spring for internships...

I bought a 20 pack of drug tests from amazon for like nothing and took one every 5 days after 30 days, and it took me 65 days to pee clean. That’s how saturated with thc I was. I would definitely recommend taking a break long enough to figure out how long you need to pee clean. The sleep problems generally pass after a couple weeks

Vaped a bunch of dry herb and then decided it would be a good idea to eat it. Life is full of great decisions. Went to dinner. Had some drinks. Then the 2-3hr mark rolls around. Baked out of my mind. Then my friend goes "hey wanna hit this weed pen?" Sure! My intoxicated self says..... Lights out. I'm pretty sure my brain was doing flips in my head I was so dizzy. Very difficult to keep composed enough to function at the most basic primal level. At one point I remember the Uber driver ask if I was OK. Dude you're playing reggae and I'm trying to chill Lmao.

It blows my mind that the entire country of Canada voted to legalize and shops were opening up weeks later, and in Maine, its been legit four years and still nothing....

In Maine, the 2016 vote made it legal to purchase cannabis for recreational use.
Right now, we're in sort of a gray area where it's legal to buy, there's just nowhere approved to actually sell it legally. (I.e when the vote was passed, it doesn't mean your neighborhood dealer is suddenly doing a legal business.)
These things are hyper-controlled which is why states setup Cannabis Control Committees (or other groups) to oversee every aspect of the operation - from planting to use. The whole "gifting" thing is what most states do in the interim when they're waiting to setup the infrastructure for legal-recreational sale. For example in Massachusetts there was a really popular site where you'd buy "juice" from this company called HighSpeed and with your 8oz 16oz or 32oz juice purchase, you just "happened" to get a gift of weed.
Essentially, states have to setup/approve the whole infrastructure to get it running where they can control every aspect from planting to sale. Most states seem to be able to do this in 1-2 years (Mass passed their legalization bill in the same election as Maine and dispensaries opened in ~2018) it's just Maine thats dragging this whole process out.
