The Next true Big mountain Skier ??

First off as of right now there is no new young generation of true big mountain skeirs and basicly asides the random park skeir here and there that throws a 180 off a cliff and thinks he is the best there is no one in line to fill the shoes of seth morison and other true big mountain skiers. And dont tell me that pep fujas and eric pollard and true big mountai skiers, not that there bad skiers but there not big mountain skiers. They are all around skiers that CAN ski park and Big mountain. I would really like to see a 12 year old kid that just rips Ak lines like morison, nobbis, and davinport. I am tired off 12 year old park wonders, we already have enough of those. We need more big mountain skiers!!! Well that is my rant

12 year olds skiing AK lines sounds like a deathwish to me. i certainly wasnt strong enough at 12 to be able to ski anything like what seth is doing now, thats for sure. and pollard isnt a big mountain skier? he can rip any line you throw at him as far as i can tell. how bout jp auclair, who went to alaska with seth and skied right along side of him? he doesnt count just because he started out as a freestyler then shifted his focus to the park, and now also kills in in the BC? to really be on top anymore, you have to be well rounded.

well i dont thinks its the fact that big mountain skiers dont exist, its more than the ski industry is more interested in promoting park skiers.

I think BC will get a little more attention in years to come.

I disagree. Look at seth. he certainly doesn't get coverage for his park skiing.

However, breaking into Big Mtn skiing as a young person is difficult, as the comps are not nearly as well publicized as the park and pipe comps, and it is ridiculously expencsive to fund your own trip to heli ski to practice on the terrain.

he said "tru big mountain skier" and I forget which mag i saw it in, but It had a 13 year old whos specialyty was big mountain. and last years powder mags had tjat little thing called "prodigy" i think there was like 3 or 4, anyways one was a big mountain skier

theres alot of sick guys you dont know about yet, and most 12 year olds arent able to ski alot of backcountry because of the risks involved nad the gear needed. Any 12 year old can cruise the park at his local resort, but most 12 year olds have never even seen out of bounds

there are big mountain skiers all over. like someone mentioned above, they just don't get the public and financial attention as park skiers. check out the big mountain comps at snowbird, kirkwood, crested butte, and the rest of the tour if you want to see some sick big mountain skiers.

Nick Moss

Ha ha i wish. But ill do my best this season to ski the steepest/ crazyest lines possible. Nick

lol. i hope your joking. I just want to take this time to reflect on what an epic skier pollard is....and you're a fucking lunatic if you think he isnt big mtn.

dear topic poster,

im glad you base your knowledge of skiing on what you see in videos. that way you will be delightfully suprised.

and actually a guy by the name of nick greener...just signed with ninthward...watch out for him if u dont already know how sick he is

KYE FUCKING PETERSON????? excuse me??

that next coked-out tanner hall bitch ass wannabe? id kick kye petersons ass if i ever met him

now if youre really want to talk about balls, RYAN OAKDEN. the guy never gets any mention, and hes one of the best skiers ive ever seen. watch his lines sometimes. they always involve dodging some sort of mandatory air, and most of them usually involve three or four huge cliffs too. you want to see the next gen of true big mountain riders, look to none other than RYAN OAKDEN, and the aforementioned Dana Flahr.

^^^ to whoever said I base my knowladge on jsut movies how did you come up with that conclusion. I wasnt saying that pollard and those poeple are bad big mountain skiers there jsut all around skiers not hardcore big montain skeirs. I am talking about thee being a general lack of strait out hard core big mountain skiers like treadway, morison ect...

There are plenty of people who do park and big mountain but that does not atomaticly make them amazing at big mountain, there jsut really good not amazing

not really dude, if you get an alaskan grown skier, he'll have no problem. sure skiing the lines are hard, but its soemthing you learn. sure 900's are hard, but you learn em. i love big mountain. its the only thing thats gets my heart goin. dont like park, but maybe thats cus we have a shitty one. anyway, who skis park in Alaska. shit, my friend just bought 2 new sleds, so im gonna be rackin up the BC time in the Chugach. ooh baby...

I understand what your saying although, Eric Hjorleifson definitely skies huge, exposed, technical lines at 21 years of age. Nobody in North America even compares at his age.

It all has to do with strength. The fact of the matter if a lot more experience and strength and training goes into narly big mountain lines, thats why you see a lot of famous jibbers heading towards the big mountain and opening new doors for skiing. Im surprised Abma has only been mentioned once, seeing as hes had a HUGE last two years on the mountains. I also thought that all the big mountain skiers in tbc threw down some pretty good cliffs (all two of them i think) and they were substantially young for big mountain hucking. Basically, they're everywhere dude, open your eyes

Yup. But also you need knowledge and experience to ski the BC and get away with it.

Eric Hjorleifson is my pick with balsy lines. He's just getting started.

i dunno, it will depend on if the the next bm skier is somebody who just skis bm or somebody who has progressed into that seen like cr or sage.
