The next President of the United States will be...

Why do you think that Herman Cain can fix the economy, when you know nothing about the impact of his proposed policies?

That is why I'm telling you to shut the fuck up. He is awesome at running fast food chains.. that doesn't mean he is fit to be president. I'm awesome at the multi-task game, does that mean I should be president as well?

Yea because spending an exorbitant amount of money on bailouts which did nothing but further our debt, and now wanting to spend even more money is not a change for the worse. Not to mention the outrageous amount of money spent on our military. Hey Obama what happened to bringing our troops home? Oh and lets allow assassination of US citizens because that's cool too right? How bout we just through out our constitution because apparently it's shit and the Fed can do what ever the fuck they want.

I should have been more specific:

They all suck. All of them. Every single politician. The bad ones suck because they are bad and do shitty things. The good ones suck because they don't stand up and say shit about it, or follow through and actually change things.

Obama is a pussy. They all suck. America is in the shitter.

Because he turned around two corporations that were on the verge of bankruptcy and turned them into a success.

Think about it, the United States, whether you like it or not, is on the verge of bankruptcy. If Cain was able to identify the problems with two huge business' facing bankruptcy and turn it around, why wouldn't he be able to do the same for our country. He has proven time and time again that he is a problem solver. Isn't that what we need?

As far as the "I'm awsome at multi-tasking", I don't know what the hell you are talking about.

lol @ obama in pittsburgh today.

but seriously, i've been following herman cain for a while now and i must say i really really like him.

would you really care what your president personally believed in, if he fixed the economy hypothetically? or would you rather have someone that shares your belief keep the economy stagnant?

He was only the CEO of Godfathers. So I guess he only ran one food chain, and it wasn't fast food. How about instead of trying to bash me you post something with a glimmer of intellect. That would be nice.

http://economix.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/10/11/inside-the-cain-tax-plan/?hp

"As for corporations, Mr. Cain’s proposal is primarily going to benefit those with revenues of more than $1 million a year, because they account for 98.7 percent of all receipts by C corporations. (A C corporation is a legal entity separate and distinct from its owners that is taxed as a corporation; its shareholders pay taxes individually on their gains.) Those companies with receipts over $50 million account for 88.8 percent of total receipts.

Other business entities — sole proprietorships, S corporations (which have between 1 and 100 shareholders and pass through net income or losses to shareholders) and partnerships — would not benefit because they are not taxed on the corporate schedule. But they represent 92 percent of all businesses.

Second, Mr. Cain would eliminate all taxes on profits earned by multinational corporations outside the United States. It’s hard to know the impact of this provision, but according to Martin Sullivan, an economist with Tax Analysts, the 50 largest corporations in the United States generated half of their profits in other countries.

The actual benefit of Mr. Cain’s proposal would be much greater to many of them, because, according to Mr. Sullivan, while some of these 50 companies have no foreign operations, others derive 100 percent of their gross profits in foreign countries. In 2010 these included Philip Morris, Pfizer and Abbott Laboratories.

Third, Mr. Cain would abolish all taxes on capital gains. Such taxes typically generate more than $100 billion in federal revenue annually, according to theTax Policy Center. According to the Joint Committee on Taxation, two-thirds of all capital gains are reported by those with incomes over $1 million.

Mr. Cain says these three proposals, which he would put into effect immediately without offsetting the lost revenue, will jump-start economic growth. He offers no evidence for this assertion; it is simply put forward as self-evident. But the experience of the George W. Bush administration was that cuts in tax rates on the wealthy and on capital gains had no effect whatsoever on growth, according to the Congressional Research Service."

Cool.

We have all learned that this guy ^ Joey something rather, has mastered the art of Copy>Paste.

If Cain isn't onto something about OWS, what OWS' goal? Because the people out on the streets don't have an answer to that question.

"As we gather together in solidarity to express a feeling of mass injustice, we must not lose sight of what brought us together. We write so that all people who feel wronged by the corporate forces of the world can know that we are your allies. As one people, formerly divided by the color of our skin, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or lack thereof, political party and cultural background, we acknowledge the reality: that there is only one race, the human race, and our survival requires the cooperation of its members; that our system must protect our rights, and upon corruption of that system, it is up to the individuals to protect their own rights, and those of their brethren; that a democratic government derives its just power from the people, but corporations do not seek consent to extract wealth from the people and the Earth; and that no true democracy is attainable when the process is determined by economic power. We come to you at a time when corporations, which place profit over people, self-interest over justice, and oppression over equality, run our governments. We have peaceably assembled here, as is our right, to let these facts be known."

Agreed basically the same as this Churchill quote about democracy

"Indeed, it has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all those other forms that have been tried from time to time."

I provided a source already, towards the bottom of the first page. How you think you can play the conservative highroad card is unbeknownst to me unless you live under a rock.

if people haven't gotten militant to resist abortion then they're not going to get militant against gay marriage. they'll bitch and moan and vote to change it back, but i don't think its going to cause much violence. and federal marriage laws are useful so that a married couple has the same rights wherever they are. imagine married gay people on vacation in louisiana and one of them has a heart attack, and the persons partner gets shitty visitation rights because louisiana has different marriage laws than than california. oh yea he should have just planned to have had his heart attack in a more gay friendly state.

i'm trying to be as civil as i can, but as a bisexual man this particular issue can get a bit of a rise out of me.

Not really. He hasn't changed much of anything, sadly enough. Name one major change he's enacted. I'd be happy if you could prove me wrong.

A bit off topic, but it's a policy question, so I'll bite...

This is huge... as a reasonably conservative young conservative (libertarian, really), I think it is super important that GBLT receive the right to marry in a civil union. You get all the tax benefits of a married couple, equal treatment under the law, etc... and the religious people (myself included) can choose as to whether they allow marriages in the context of their faith denomination.

Win win for everyone! See, not all conservatives are cold hearted...

Cain / Romney (POTUS /VP) for president? Let's watch this debate and make an informed decision...

Liberals don't like Herman Cain because he represents everything they're against, a rise to success on merit and hard work. Liberals need type-cast black people who depend on the government in order to keep them on the Democrat plantation.

Its also why they try and crucify Allen West and Clarence Thomas.

you know what, you are exactly right. It's not that I don't want a man with no experience in politics to be running out country, or that I don't agree with his ideas and ideals.

I just am against people who work hard.

This election will be incredibly close. I think Romney gets the nom, he be president. Perry gets the nom, Obama wins. Herman Caine will not get the nomination. He will not get the big name backing, and he lacks the name recognition necessary for an electorate that often shows up and simply chooses the first name they recongize.

I agree with almost nothing you stand for, but I want to give you kudos. At least you know what you want, and you are consistent. Props good sir.

Just in general. You are a true conservative. You want government uninvolvement, period. Not a claim to be anti government, but really want the government where you see fit.

It wasn't really directed specifically at the Greenspan comment specifically. Just in general what I see you post. Much like Ron Paul, (who I know you support), I don't agree with everything you say, but I respect that you are at least consistent and know what you want. Its more than you can say about a lot of people.

Just wanted to bring a little positivity to the discussion :)

Now, back to everyone calling everyone they don't like idiots, and 1 out of every 20 people actually posting backed up opinions. GO FORTH!

Hermain Cain will run the U.S. government like a corporation. But the government isn't a corporation. It's operation is based on providing service, not making profit.

I'm hoping its gonna be that Gary Johnson guy who will legalize weed. Cuz once the US legalizes it I would guess it is very likely Canada will (officially)

Ben is just some white kid that voted for a black man because it was cool. He shouldnt be allowed to voice his opinion on anything, because obviously they are all wrong opinions.

tee'd me up perfect for that one Ben :)

herman cain is a right wing wack job. the only difference is he is black. he is still very anti-gay and very much misinformed on basic economics.
