The next big music genre is

Yea, that or something like a combo with techno... like rock-techno or maybe even rock-rap-techno... I mean we are just gonna make a new genre so this isn't really a valid. topic.

not so much techno but house, electro house... artists like the presets, huge in aud atm, hopefully we see more artists like them

As long as people (kanye i'm talking to you) lay off the autotune i don't care. It was cool for like 5 minutes.

bands like Kalmah and Children of Bodom incorporate the somewhat techno sound with keys but still keep it awesome and heavy! \m/ but the genre is referred to as melodic death metal.

fuck you.
if you listen to those bands then you dont know shit about death metal.

and the next big genre is stoner rock, even you morphodites have prolly heard the sword by now.
/rant.sorry for pissy mood, its early

bluegrass haha. OMD what what? in all honesty though, nothing better to sit around and drink whiskey too in the country.

bands outside my genre blow dick. all they do is play simple loud low riffs over and over and have no decent sound what so ever.

no, "techno" died in 99.

i see electronic music growing exponentially though which is good because its finally getting some well fuckin deserved respect.

stuff like fidget house, classic house, maybe another hyphy movement!

and then the hipster angle with like Of Montreal, Crystal Castles, Digitalism, LCD Soundsystem, Late of the Pier, MATT & KIM! (personal favorite) and maybe White Williams depending where their next album goes. you know, homies like them.

techno? god, i hope not.

i think it will probably be indie electronica rock, like MGMT. MTV people will notice their success, and create other bands with a similar style.

i wish it would be real hip hop, the world would be a better place if more people listened to good hip hop.

I would have to say that i think 50's music such as swing is like crazy on the scene at the moment, definately making a comeback in my book, haa soo mellow and good.

dont get me wrong i enjoy a good techno track but for the most part...

Techno is big...

for ecstasy users, coke heads, acid heads, and date rape drug slippers

i predict that mainstream rap is gonna get more electroish, like what kanye west is doing right now. hes making more electro type stuff. and then that will gradually make indie electro the next big music genre. all you have to do when it comes to the next big music scene is look at what the hipsters in LA are listening to. right now thats indie electro

Agreed, I can also see the sortof dance/electronica/hiphop mix start to grow a bit. Hip hop and alternative stuff is starting to get a little more publicity now. Also like somebody had said the sortof MGMT sound is getting more popular and even starting to go a bit mainstream at my school (unfortunately).

None of you have ever heard of the Disco Biscuits have you?

They fucking rule. One of the few bands to play sick live techno. I have been seeing them since 1999, so much fun.

I really want rock and metal to make a comeback and be as big as it was in the 80s, but i doubt it will happen. There are alot of good new up and coming bands out though which is good.

not like rave ecstasy techno shit but moderate techno with lyrics and instruments maybe. The kevin rudolph-lil wayne song is an example of what I think will be on the radio more in the future. I like techno, but the club techno will probably stay in the clubs.

That indie-hipster shit is going to keep getting bigger and bigger. Then it will over saturate and become super tacty like shit in the 80s. Then something raw will come through, then play itself out. repeat.

well right meow there are a few "big" genres. Im going to go with indie electronica for one, and freak folk, devendra banhart type stuff for the other.

It's been done, and AFAIK epic failed. And for the thread, as long as it isnt Death/Black metal i dont really care, if MTV ruins metal for me i will find the CEO and knee him in the nuts so hard he tastes it.

dude its funny cause i actually do see country getting bigger and bigger. country music is the shit man. all music is dope though depends on what mood your in.

for sure.

but vocal trance/ house music is getting really popular, its kind of always been, its just not that mainstream.

plus k for you and the guy above me because i was just waiting for someone to recognize. most people just dont know these days. not many people have a good groundwork in the basics.

id have to agree, any popular brittney spears, or whoever they play on the radio is pretty much techno with a famous singer singing, and even the vocals are usually all tweaked.

whateva i lovee techno, monster massive was the shitt

^ ^^^^^^ somewhere up thur. country has been hugely popular for a very long time.

and i think at best, electronic will last about as long as fall out boy. and at first, i thought oh no not electronic, but then i realized it is still far better than akon and lil wayne.

I see glitchy electronica getting big: I.E. edIT, justice, bassnectar, etc...

and also Synthpop: I.E. Chromeo, Presets, MGMT, Hot Chip, Cut Copy, etc...

Trip-hop is going to get bigger I believe... There is soooo much potential and it's the best music out there!

Electronica is so on the rise, it's huge at my college, last friday we had five kids spinning unbelievable jams with a hundo plus people dancing on top of eachother. Shit is fire.
