I’ m creating a new thread because the old one has three pages of rambling before anything happens.
This is an idea that’s been floating around for a year now, but hasn’t really gone anywhere. The concept is simple: I have a cheap disposable camera, I take a photo and then send it to someone. They then take another photo, before sending it to someone else. Hopefully it’ll make it further than the borders of this godforsaken rock, and in the end we’ll have a bunch of cool photos taken by different people from across the world.
In the package will be two things. The camera, and a notebook. It’d be cool if you could write something in the book before you send it off, at least just your name and where you are. If I have time, I’ll try and stick a map inside the front cover. Draw something small that shows us where you are.
It’s (almost) completely your choice who you send the camera to. You can choose however you like, but don’t do what happened to Jessepe and take ages trying to force some ‘famous’ skier-guy to take the camera. Of course you're a ‘famous’ peerson feel free to ask for it!
There are three rules:
Rule one: ONE PHOTO. You’ve got one chance, pressure’s on. Jk, we don’t care if it comes out bad. It's not like you'll know for a while, but you can always blame the shitty camera.
Rule two: Send it to an newschooler, but not one you know outside of here. See why I said ‘almost’ up there?
Rule three: You’ve got a week at most. We’ve got 27 shots to go through, which when you account for the amount of time this could spend in the mail could take a long time.
In case you’re wondering why a disposable…
We’re using a disposable camera for a couple of reasons: first, the ‘one-shot rule’ is reinforced. If we sent round an SD card it might end up in the hands of someone taking it too seriously, who uses a really expensive camera and photoshop until he gets an incredible shot. It’s good, but I don’t think it belongs here. Trust me, if someone sent me an SD card that’s what I would do

My second reason is that I think that, if the camera were to find it’s way to a decent photographer, it’d be cool to see what they could do with a disposable. We’re used to seeing what they can do with expensive kit and the luxury of multiple photos, what can they do with a shitty disposable and only one click?
