The new Macbook

Wondering what you guys think on the new Macbook. Personally i think its stupid that they made it so thin that there is only one port to charge the laptop or plug in any accessories (meaning you cant charge you computer and have your phone plugged in or a mouse) Also this greatly influenced the battery as there are no longer a rectangular battery or an actual clicker. Also apple doesn't have the best build quality when it comes to think devices (iphone 6) and its still a dual core processor

I don't know what you are talking about. I am too cheap to ever buy a mac book but everytime I use one the design, attention to detail and build quality makes me want to get one.

And my iphone 6 has amazing build quality.

yeah its dumb how you can only have the charger and usb. but i mean its apple, they have to relase something new and improved every year in order to stay in it. It's got insanely good quality screen though.

-only one port to plug in any accessories

USB hubs have existed since about a week after the USB port. Guess apple will have to make a nice aluminium cased one and charge >$60 for it.

But seriously, that thing is extremely impressive.

It has a motherboard that is 2" by 2", also RAM, an SSD, a cpu and a (fucking massive might I add) battery. The engineering is incredible.

1300 for a computer thats less capable than the mb air. my mb air was $1250 and is leaps and bounds better than that stupid fucking macbook. Apple is just going downhill.

That being said, USB-c is the future, you can hook in a dongle/adapter to the new macbook and get a charging port, hdmi and usb port that all go into the same connection at full speed.

USB-c will be cool in like 3 years.

pretty stupid. can't do anything that my mbp can do. pretty sure i paid less for mine than the new mb is.

It's a gorgeous Facebook machine for those people who value style above performance, nothing wrong with that, if it suits their lifestyle and makes them happy, what is there too moan about?

People who use this will be entirely content with one port, it's all they need.

I don't get why a lighter computer is such a huge deal. perfectly happy with my macbook (which is the model right before this one). Seem's like they went too far in the traditional apple philosophy of 'simple is better' thing.

"the MacBook Air began in 2008. No optical drive seemed like a stupid idea and it was $1,799 with an 80GB hard drive."

And look where it is today. They are getting cutting the fat- no more air. Macbook and Macbook Pro. This is a device for light users; parents, dumb children, old people, people who don't use applications besides safari, word/ecx/ppt, iTunes etc.

When has a first gen apple product ever been really great? The mba was shit until 2/3 gens in. If you compare a rmbp to a og non-uni mbp its a joke.

Not to mention the retina display or battery life. Everyone has such high standards... this things fuckin crazy. Give it a year or two before you hate.

CANT WAIT FOR THE MBP REFRESH. SPACE GREY. YES. Im guessing it'll be in a few months, which means I only have to wait a year and a few months to get a new computer (gen2), sick

not great value now, but in a couple years when batteries catch up and processors are even faster and cooler this chassis will kick ass.

I think I should point out how fucking good safari is on mac (the windows version is many years old and isn't being developed). It's the best browser I've ever used. Small, lightweight program with an extremely simple yet powerful interface, it absolutely destroys Chrome (RAM hog) and Firefox (cpu hog). Plugins are a pain (you have to manually install them), but otherwise it's perfect.

People make fun of macs for being just facebook machines and to be 100% honest that is all I use it for, that and newschoolers with some music downloaded to itunes every once and a wile. Im not very good with computers so I love how easy it is to do shit on a mac. Very user friendly. Im totally an apple sellout.

and im ok with that.

I love OSX and apple makes the best laptops but this new MacBook is fucking retarded.

Well, they didn't do a whole hell of a lot of innovating this round. Not sure if the colors will come to the Macbook pro line anytime soon - as they did quietly update the 13 inch (not 15) macbook pro alongside this new one.

I just like my Macbook because I am able to go to Starbucks with my Macbook and sip at my coffee, while wearing boat shoes without socks so everyone knows I'm a hipster

seriously. I always get a "U don't Use cHroMe??" and its like like yea, I do for some specific things. But 99% of my browsing is done on safari. It kills it on macs

what are you using like a mac mini from 2005 any new computer won't pinwheel on opening safari unless your completely booked out on everything in which case you should invest in an external hard drive and clean some shit up.

I've never gotten a pinwheel from something so simple (heres what I'm running for reference)

with this setup I can do photo shop for hours and I've edited video on final cut with no issues

so I'm pretty confused as to why your MBP pinwheels when opening safari...

My mbp is the most recent model (besides the one announced yesterday)

Probably pinwheeled because I don't think I've opened Safari on this laptop besides the first day when I downloaded Firefox

Safari is faster and saves battery life, what more do you want, that it makes Pretzels for you?

You find it hard to browse Facebook and download music on a pc?

Well I just like the way macs are user friendly. Have never used a PC to download music so Im not sure how it would compare. Itunes works pretty good for me. I also got my macbook for no cost from the school for work so with it being free im really happy with the quality. If I did spend a few grand or whatever on it I might feel differently. Im just saying that I do enjoy it for the basic stuff it can do.

This laptop is going to be bought by basic bitches and it's going to be hilarious to see them bragging about it

Looks pretty awesome as long as it comes with a cord/hub that has those other connections. It looks like they are going to phase out the AIR and replace it with the basic "Macbook" model. Glad to see the Pro is still in the lineup.

This is what Apple had in mind with this device. Apple considers them to have brand loyal customers in the sense that most have quite a few of their products. This is why continuity and the user experience from one apple product to another is seamless and works so well. The lack of multiple USB ports is because of this as well.

If you want to display something on a TV: use an apple tv and airplay it. To them you no longer need a dedicated HDMI port'

if you need to sync your iPhone: use wifi sync.

if you need to send a file to something else: use AirDrop.

need to connect a mouse: use the magic mouse which is bluetooth.

yes this i convenient for people who have all of the devices, but a lot of people do, This is why they have gone this way in their design.
