The new Look px12 jib binding

According to everyone who either has them or has tried them the shock absorber is merely a gimmick. You'd be better off putting a shock absorber in your boot.

it adds some color...I'm sure it does something...putting a chunk of plastic under your foot...will not do absolutely nothing...whether or not its noticeable is another thing

PX12 Jibb is a good binding I infact own it and was very happy with its sucess in a rail jam... The shock pad ehh idk

yea.

its effect is practically unnoticable, but it does do a little bit. As for the binding overall, its pretty sweet (as are the rest of the px/axial2 bindings)

I'm sure its not noticable, but i'm willing to bet it stabalizes the binding a little bit. If you don't land perfectly center, you will have more weight in a different direction, left side, right side, whatever it may be. If its just the metal on wood it would probably put more stress on the ski. The small plastic park would absorb the additional pressure and help reduce the wear on the binding. I doubt it would be noticable, but it probably is still helpful.

And I'm by no means speaking with any factual backing to that, just thinking logically of what may be a possibility.

I'm sure during ideal conditions for when the binding was being tested it had an effect. But for everyday skiing it most likely has minimal effect.

I've always wondered about shock absorbers under bindings. I have some on an old pair of Marker Free bindings (it was originally Marker's idea by the way, not Look's), and my brother just got the Jibs. I've always thought that they would increase your chance of ripping your screws out. If the pads actually do compress when you land, then they have to decompress shortly thereafter. Like any piece of rubber, they regain their original shape. If this is the case, wouldn't the decompression cause the binding to pull up on the screws? Little by little, wouldn't their grip inside the ski be weakened?

i ve got an older ( 05) p12.. its a pretty sick binding, my little bro ahs the px12 jib with the green shock absorber on his new fujis, igve yet to ride them but when i had them on they were crazilky soft

I've got em, like has been said, probably works in test conditions, not noticable in everyday use. Also probably does more to absorb shock going from ski to binding and boot than it does to the skier, so it would maybe help you not release at dumb times?

haha i have those, but i didnt know about any shock absorber...they just feel the exact same as any binding i've ridden

ive ridden them a few times so far, and i cant complain i love the bidnings! but i have not had any jumps to hit yet, so i dunno how the shcok aborosrber will work
