So i went to ski camp and demoed 2 pairs of skis the k2 seth Vicious and the new armada Ar5's i found the Vicious' much nicer to ski on in the park than my public enemy's however the Vicious' offer a great powder ski the AR5's function just as well in the park but are no powder ski. I need ideas on skis that function as good park and powder skis for less than the vicious'

They look dope. Maybe you should have checked out the ARV, as it is their backcountry/freestyle ski? They technically have three of them(ARV, JP vs Julien, ANT), but the ARV is more oriented toward inbounds stuff than the other two.

I've skiied my AR5's in powder in Utah and they did just fine, I also have skiied them in the little powder we get on the east coast, overall they are pretty good in the powder

 
does anyone know the dimensions of the new ar5's and ARV's?

what the hell do you do in pow with ar5s. they are too skinny. sure they may "work" but get a fat ski. waist deep pow...maybe if it was the lightest snow that has ever graced this earth, and you definitely would not be on top of it. my k2 pes can handle powder, but they sure as hell dont make it fun or stable

yes, theres a diffrence between handling powder, and skiing powder. im sure ar5's could handle it, but it cant be much fun. and i bet you that somethin with like 10mm more will be more fun.

 
i agree, i've skied the ar5 and the arv in pow...there's no contest that the arv is a far superior ski for both park and pow. the ar5 can "handle" pow, but it's gunna be more work then it is fun.

 
I LOVE HOW HALF OF YOU KIDS ARE FROM THE EAST COAST, unless you ski the fuck out of the west when you come with your rich parents do not go recomending pow skis, thanks

I think that if you are a good skier, it will not matter where you ski: east / west / ak / europe.

If you feel comfortable on your skis, then get the phattest ski that you want. It will be an adventure learning to ski all over again with a fatty.

I think that this year I am going to mount up and just ski one ski all year - hopefull anything over 100mm in the waist. Last year I tried it, and adapted well and right away, so now I want a pair for everyday.

haha i'm east coast and i probably have double the days on the snow as you...and my 5 weeks out west was paid fully by me and a little help from my college loan ;)

We still get powder in the east. Sure maybe not as much or as often, but we've had 3-4 foot dumps in the past and at least a handful of 2 footers every winter. But no, if you're from the east coast, you know nothing about powder or how to ski in it. I hate this east vs. west thing. Just because you live out there doesn't mean you're better.

depends on where u live, over in the east we don get crap for pow really, out west on the other hand.... so i think it comes down to where u would live if u had to choose between the two skis ur lookin at
