The "n word" and its usage on ns.

i've noticed recently that the usage of this word has increased quite a bit, to a level that is fairly inapropriate. i think that most of us would agree that calling people "nigger" is below us as fairly civil human beings. This usage also shows that we as a community are ignorant that there are in fact black skiers. african americans dont appreciate it when we use said word, and as there are im sure several black skiers on this site, its not too cool for us to go around using it.

i remember when the drop of the n bomb was a bannable offense.

so please ns, lets show some decency and use a fucking thesaurus instead of this word.

i dont think its really anykind of direct hate. unless someone gets really offended
 
although ive yet to meet a black person who cared, i do think it is overused and thrown around a bit lightly. solution: blame lil wayne, why i dont know, In the end it all comes down to whether obama is or isnt the antichrist, but i digress. what you really need to think about is, what the hell does this post mean? and the answer is a lot of nothing but it is the middle of summer and i am bored - jah bless
 
what i dont understand is that why black people take soooo much offense to being called the N word but they call other black people it all the time. I dont get it.
 
It's just not a cool word to say and I've never been for it. That word has way too much negative history behind it.
 
i agree i use the term "nigga" in real life to my black and white friends.... and my black friends could care less and call me it back or jus call me cracka..... i dont use the word as an offense.... i use as another way saying "hey" to my friends.... i personally do not take offense to it when someone calls me "nigga" (im white) or when i hear someone call some one else a "nigga".... as long as it is stated in a somewhat respectfull way.... however i do get pissed when white people say to african americans "dumb nigger" or "nigger get back in the fields" that is just wrong....

i got baned for 2 weeks for droping the N bomb, but black people say it alot (not all black people, at my school they always do) it is just that racism is something people dont want to talk about, i talk about it all the time to friends, family, and my mom
 
to be honest, when a black person calls me something such as a white boy, cracker, or racist (which im not) i could give a shit. besides the "n" word has evolved to not be a racial term but actually a way of adressing other people. just listen to lil wayne or biggie smalls. plus as long as you dont call someone a nigger and just use it to sing a song or something what the fuck is the big deal
 
Sums it up perfectly and to be honest I haven't seen that much of the N word on here lately so I don't really see where this thread is coming from.
 
i was going to make a thread about this. i think white people in general sound ignorant when they use it.
 
yess i agree nigga is a word that I've never really seen offend a black person. but people definitely cross the line and it pisses me off
 
hardly ever nigger mostly nigga and alot of black kids i know don't actually care if someone says nigga and is a white fellow, they think that it is just a word like brother, bro, dude, homie, ect... its a word that is associated with their culture nigga of course not nigger
 
if you would say the n word to martin luther king Jr's face then go ahead and put in you posts. if you wouldnt then, it is a bit cowardly to use it on the forum
 
While I don't support the use of it (especially amongst upper-class white suburban kids), I can see why it is used.

The ghetto lifestyle is glamorized amongst teens and just like when they were toddlers, they copy behavior they see on TV or hear on the radio. Like lemmings. Little ghetto lemmings.

And when said behavior is displayed, it is almost always in a joking manner (100% of the time that I've encountered it anyway). The ghetto image is the modern pop cult. In the 60's it was the peace/hippy movement, and now its white kids acting black. Teens bring up such topics because it is something they can all relate to because it is everywhere you go- magazines, newspapers, internet, movies, music, videogames, etc. Its a social benefit to them more than anything.

How many times have you heard somebody say "nigga" and actually mean it in a demeaning and hateful way towards black people? I never have.
 
its a fucking word. It is 6 letters that black people throw around all time time in songs, in conversation, in every day life and white kids also use it every day in every sense as well. Like I said... it is a word, people HAVE to stop being so sensitive
 
i dont know if this will even make sense but w/e here goes.... the meanings of words change overtime one that comes to mind is the word bitch.... back in the day it ment a female dog and older people may still refer to a female dog as a bitch.... if a younger person or persons say bitch their meaning of the term is a "skanky whore".... same with the word "nigger" back in the day it was an offense to call some one it because it meant a "black" and older people may still get offended by it (blacks and whites alike) but todays kids may not look at it the same way to them it prolly means "hey" or along the lines of that..... i guess all i wanted to state is that word definitions change over time.... it still dosent make them right to use but.....
 
this is true, however it is rather ironic to use the word in a generally all white forum, but if i had to guess i bet you would never call some black you dont know "nigga". so how do you justify using it here
 
sticks and stones people, its just a fucking word. it used to have strong offensive connotations and that what all you are clinging to. its now pretty much a joke. stop getting so butt hurt. i use it all the time, i have been told by plenty a black man that it is fine for me to say, they dont care anymore. its not like im walking around going "yo nigger, shine my shoes."

your right..... people could care less what they put on ns cause they kno they cant get beat up or shot up.... this wont change any time soon.... i use to be one not giving a shizz bout wat i put online but then i see kids my age acting like total jerkoffs by posting stuff they wouldnt do or say if u were standing right there beside em...... and i hate it so i try to act the same as i would in real life...... some of u should try to act as u would in real life.... go ahead and hate me and take away my karma i could care less i only have like 150 any ways...... oh by the way im only a month short of 16.... my bs prolly dosent even make sense to all of u but thats my opion on it.....

1) i dont want to get banned

2) i think its offensive to black people

bottom line no one knows how bad it is but minorities.... they are the ones that actually know how it really feels.
