This thread is dedicated to the relocation of any one to Colorado, most preferably summit county. I know a lot of locals go on this regional forum so please help out. The main purpose of this is that if any one has any questions about moving to Colorado.

Such factors to discuss:

Places to stay

Places to eat

what to bring

Deal around the area

Networking possibilities

What to expect

Jobs

Hanging out

ETC

My story: I graduate college in three weeks, and just yesterday found out that I have a lifty job with Keystone. I will be making the move in three weeks. I know summit county is a pretty expensive place to live in, so any one who has made the move to summit please tell your experiences with it, and what you did.

Note: This may be a repost, but this thread isnt just for one location, its about any where in Colorado, so in hopes of creating this thread it will eliminate countless other threads and have this your one stop shop for moving needs.

I just moved to Silverton CO from Northern Idaho a couple days ago. I'll be doing an internship at Silverton all winter and possibly working at Purgatory. I dunno if any newschoolers are around here, but if you're close and wanna ride, hit me up. I need to meet people cause everyone I know is 1000 miles away haha. We also have one more room open in a house for $250/month if anyone's interested.

Deal, I like you already, you play the drums and I do as well. Where did you get housing at? Im afraid all the good rooms at tenderfoot might be taken up by the time I get there in 3 weeks.

Im in tenderfoot. I would strongly recommend getting in touch with the employee housing office asap because yeah there probably isn't much left but its worth trying. And drumming is probably the only thing i like more than skiing... its a bummer im going to have to go 5 months without touching a drum set unless i meet someone out here with one... but what ever im in keystone! good luck buddy

Flying out Dec 14th from Michigan, trying to get a place in Breck. Pretty much wingin it, hit me up if you're in a similar situation

I could split a room with you in frisco and dillion. It would be half way since I am working in Keystone, and you need to be at breck. It would probably be cheaper than Breck. I am a super clean person. let me know if interested.

Actually Frisco has on average the most expensive rent in summit, you should check out summit cove. I feel like that area has the most central location. Also, look at the summit daily for places to rent. From my experience peopke who advertise there seem to be morw likely to call you back

yeah Frisco is as expensive as Vail most of the time unless you can actually get a place in the apts next to the 2nd Frisco exit on i70 (which are never listed online or in the news, gotta actually go there and get the phone number to call, for anyone's reference)

Turns out I wont be needing to find a place to rent out with people. My department set me up with a place at sagebrush, yuck. Oh well, the price you pay to ski a couple days.

People living in or around Summit County, hit me up if you wanna shred sometime. Ill be there December 9th.

good luck. i know of a couple people that have moved/are moving out of tenderfoot. If you dont wanna get stuck in sagebrush, call the housing office all the time and see if anything opens up.

On the bright side, sagebrush is ski on/ski off housing, and its super easy to find trees in there if thats what you're into. I got my pass yesterday, so look me up when your here if you're looking to shred.

I found an amazing little 3br house 3 miles South of Breck. 9 month lease. I find out tomorrow if the place is mine. It's a little on the expensive end, but it's a very nice place. National Forest trails and BC access are literally out the back door. I have a 12 year old dog, but the landlord won't allow another pet unfortunately. He's bending the rules because mine is so awesome. I was planning on having my friend move into one of the rooms, but she might not be able to afford it with paying back her student loans. That means there's definitely 1, maybe 2 rooms open.

I do not intend to be a dick by saying this next part, but I need to be up front and say that I'm going to be picky with who I choose to take the open room(s). I've had too many bad roommate experiences in the past and I need to make sure both that we'll get along and that I'm not going to get bailed on for rent as soon as the ski season is over. I swear I'm not an asshole, I just want to make sure I get the right roommates and I'd rather post here first to find a roommate before resorting to craigslist.

Now that I got that out of the way, most of you have probably seen me on here for years and can hopefully deduce by now that I'm easy going, and easy to get along with. I'll be ski instructing at Breck full time, and looking for a second part time night job. If you want to live with thalorax, you must be tolerant of me smoking weed. I smoke for the trees, for the trees cannot smoke for themselves. I don't smoke nearly as much as I used to, but (aside from sex) there's not anything much more enjoyable than smoking a bowl at the end of a long day of teaching a bunch of screaming children how to ski. Hopefully you'll join in with me. Oh, and I should note, that there is no bus route near the house, but I'm more than willing to give you a ride to the bus stop in the mornings on my way to work.

Sorry for the long-winded post. Just wanted to get all the necessary information out.

PM me if you're interested and tell me a bit about yourself. I'll give you more info about the place, and we can see how we get along.
