The most light and buttery ski

Im looking to buy new skis. I have a pair of Armada Alpha 1 from last year which i think are pretty stiff.

Atomic punx and a-bangs have been recommended, but what do you guys think?

punx are much lighter and slighty stiffer than afterbang but no means a stiff ski. I just wish they made a wide punx with the same flex :)

I have the LTEs and trust me they are super easy to butter and press. Might be stiffer than the punx but not stiff by any means

What is the weight of These? Can't seem to find it anywere. Their website says "not light, but not heavy" LOL. Never heard of that specific brand before.

It's Joystick Poles, and they're a division of Freeski Brands (Surface and Causwell too). I just held a pair of These with PX12s in one hand, and a pair of beat to shit Anthems with STH 16 Drivers in the other hand. The These felt lighter, but it doesn't have a massive binding on them. I've said it before, if you go forthr lightest thing possible, you sacrifice durability.

Just talked to my buddy who has the These, and has skied the Anthems. He said the These is much lighter.

Does anyone know if Joystick is going to come out with a longer These? I want that ski more than anything, but I need something at least 180.

Nope, maybe next year?

How tall are you? Weight?

I'm 6'2", 170 and am just on a pair of 179 center mounted Anthems. They're fine for jibbing, but I find them too short and dead for jumps.

Ha ha. I'm 6'3 and 250ish. I just want something to mess around on. We have next to nothing for jumps around here and I will never get technical on rails and anytime I head out went park is the last thing on my mind.

With your size, you might find something like the Anthem or These much too small.

Check out the Atomic Patent and Punx.

Also, ON3P Filthy Rich

I definitely know they are too small. It's frustrating being a big dude that wants something that is going to be buttery (although I suppose I can toss my weight around pretty good), symmetrical, etc. It's not that there aren't options out there, I just like to have a wide selection to choose from. On the bright side, I'm not getting anything new this year....

the halos are stiff idk about wait though

i have the thalls they are very buttery in the tip but stiff in the tail and wait doesent really matter that much

lol

but the halos are light as fuck and have basically the lightest swing weight out there. the rocker also makes them feel very buttery

I've heard that a couple of times now, but I can't find anything about them. Not on youtube, not here.

Can anyone link to a video where we actually can see them in action?

Can't find it now since I'm on mobile. But check out Surface skis blog awhile back. Rob Huele does a review on them

I can do a review on them right here, thats probably more subjective than Heule's. They are incredibly light, and very very soft, but still quite poppy. This makes them excellent for doing really tweaked out and snappy shifties and taps and such. They are amazingly buttery, moreso than my afterbangs. It's a bit weird to learn how to press them, because they're so soft, and you cant really mean into them as much as you would another ski or else they just flex out and you go too far. All in all, I loved mine until I started skiing on some full rocker skis which are a bit stiffer. I haven't skied on them since then. If light and ultra buttery is what you want though, go with the These.

I'm a little bigger than you and I have found the k2 kung fujas very buttery but not super light. Not necessarilly heavy just not light. The atomic patents are super buttery and very soft. I loved them the few times I tried them. So much fun.

it was really weird reading "these" as a name of skis.

"how are the these." just kinda awkward haha. but i know someone with them and they are pretty buttery.

Those?

No man, THESE.

Yeah, those. I just said those.

No you fuckin idiot, it's THESE.

OH MY GOD YES. THOSE.

FUCK OFF. ITS FUCKING THESE YOU SHITBAG

First of all..you should check if theres any threads about this before you add another..

that said.. i would recommend the Thalls, got them my self! super happy about them.

Anthems and Punx are also very light and buttery;)

curveball for what's been said in this thread but Volkl Ledge. I have the step (same shape and build as the ledge - carbon ollie bands) and theyre super light and the ledge is the more buttery version and comes in a 179.

your right about the bangs, but halos are just rockered, they are pretty stiff skis. Thalls on the other hand are light af and noodles.

Afterbangs are one of the worst skis ever made build wise, dont buy them

punx are pretty solid, jossie's new ski is worth looking into as well

anthems are fucking terrible, heavy/slow/shit flex (like most line skis)

t-halls stopped being noodles years ago

joystick/surface just make laughable skis

on3p filthy rich and fatypus g-butter will ski better then anything listed and hold up better in the long run
