The money symbols - We gotta sort this shit out.

ahaha who cares shes in the mod forums now whats next. but anyway so stickers will no longer be donations and will be cheaper? but everything else will still have that figured in? that seems pointless just keep the store the way it is.

2 private forums for the different types of contributors is absurd but if thats what the masses want then give it to em...

and i say it just is gonna take multiple purchases or one big purchase to get into the forum. rather than "yo i bought 5 bucks worth of stickers now im a donator"
 
i think that for every ns store thing you buy, you should get like $5 from that as a donation credit, so if you get a shirt,you also get a $ symbol,
or make the store peeps get like a pink $ or somethin.
 
i like the solution. you said you are still accepting contributions. does contribution money go straight to the parent company? if it does you should just stop accepting those because thats a huge waste of money. why give free money to a huge company
 
i think you should keep the old symbols for the people who deserve them. but i also think you should allow donations for people who still want to donate. i do not think people should get a special status for buying stickers or a shirt. i understand why and how it was based on the original sysmtem. but things have changed and people are going to buy stickers and shirts because they want to rep ns not becuase they are going to get a special status. i got the $ symbol when i bought stickers. and i thought that was rediculous. so i then sent money as a donation through payapl. i was exited i could finally get some sweet stickers and i was excited that now i could donate now that i have a job.

but i think people should be able to donate if they want, but maybe with different symbols or colors. that way there is a distinction of people who donated back in the day or not.
 
Its my understanding that its not as easy as just taking donations and having them go directly back into the site. I'm pretty sure donations would have to go directly to 411 and have no real purpose towards NS' longevity.
 
Lol... thats exactly my point, but whatever hah. :)

If we set it up so that you basically buy your "contribution" status through the store, then we can channel that stuff into furthering the clothing line. In the end the profits will go back to the parent company, but you know it really will help prove that NS can make money in more ways than just shitty banner ads for useless companies we hate.

So in a way, this is our chance as a community to step up to the plate and show that we want control of our site, and we're all willing to give to keep it. Hell if the store and contributions really take off, and its starting to make mad bank I'll be able to be like "NS is officially telling classmates.com to go fuck itslef."

As weird as this problem is, this is a pretty damn incredible moment in how much you guys really love this site.

Jeeze... when I lay that out I think I actually have a few tears welling in my eyes...

 
so, if u buy something in the store, do u get a money symbol? how bout a golden ticket? did i donate if i bought a golden ticket or was that discontinued?
 
lawl a super elite shop forum to talk about how cool the tee shirtz are! is there anyway i can get my coin cleared from my name i dont like this whole hierarchy system its too much for my dome.
 
Good solution. Donators should be recognized because they actually took their own money and gave it to the site. People who buy stuff at the store though, I dunno. I bought a tall tee in whis, and didn't get anything next to my name. I don't mind at all, because I have an NS tall tee! Store buyers get something material for their money, so the recognition isn't really necessary.
