Well, it was not as bad as what I thought it would be. It was cold but I thought that it was going to be a lot colder. I did not have any filming gear, so, shots were gathered. Even if I did have some sort of camera though, no tricks were landed soooo yeeeeah. All in all, it was a fun day.

glad to hear you had a good time out there! bummed I couldn't make it out. but on the brighter side I got my camera mic in the mail, tested it out on my backyard rail where i kept falling because I was so dizzy from the lethal combo of a fever and cough medicine, took a look at the shots and they were all dead silent because I forgot to turn the mic on. luckily that won't happen again.

I'm gonna try and make it down there as well. Hopefully next week sometime during the week.

I think that's a good idea, but at the same time I want the film to be available to everyone. Another possible option would be to sell shirts, and stickers for the film. I have a plotter and could easily make stickers for the cause.

I'm open to any other ideas though! Let me know what you think.
 
I'm filming with andrew furin tomorrow at Giants Ridge, the dude fricken slays and lands almost everything. He's got a job on park crew too, he was asking for feedback on the Garmisch park- which, by the way, is really flowy and well built. I'm stoked to get some sick shots.

The setup is so sick right now. there's this red up-flat tube that slides perfectly and there's 3 ways to hit it. There's a lot of creative features too. Furin was telling me about some plans for a jib ditch/pipe and some massive hips, and a 25-35-55 jumpline, also a cannon rail. It sounds absolutely epic.

Filmed a few runs with Furin, he laid down more than a few hammers. Such a nice and down to earth dude too, I was struggling with a trick, he gave one piece of advice and I got it next try. Clips turned out pretty nice, but they look sketchy because my lens kept on frosting over and it shows up a little on some of the clips.

Stoked to film some stuff for the Giants segment, I love that place. The park sucked 2010-2011 but it's been getting progressively better with each season because the park crew has changed. This year I can say with confidence that I like it the most out of all the parks in the state. It's unbelievably underrated, they have such a sick park and hardly anyone to shred it. I see it being on par with granite peak in the future but with a different style.

Steve just posted that it got cancelled for this Sunday, because of the weather. He rescheduled it for March 1st, so hopefully we will have nice, warm, sunny weather. Looking forward to it!

Heck yeah! Let me know if you're ever out there on a weekend. I'll try to gather a crew up from Duluth and head out there. It's only about a hour away I believe.

It's pretty close, an hour sounds right, maybe add 10-15 minutes of traveling to the east from eveleth. It's worth the drive every time. I literally don't even want to ski at hyland after skiing there, there was only one rail with ice on the landing because it was easy and you had to stop right after the rail so you wouldn't get going too fast. Otherwise, every landing was soft without ice, and the park overall flows nicely.

I'll be at Afton tonight around 430 or so. I probably won't be filming for the Minnesota Movie because it will be dark, but we'll see.

Plans got changed, I will be there Saturday around 10:30am along with a crew stacking shots for the movie. Would be fun to get another sesh in like Elm Creek.

Fyi the afton park is gonna be a shitshiw tomorrow like 10-3. My friends are filming goepper for a vail promo to air at redbull crashed ice, and espn will be filming him for an afton promo to be aired at xgames. So ya shit will be chaotic

Who's nick jepper? Oh well, I guess we'll get what we get. Hopefully it won't be too busy in the morning. If you're going tomorrow, mention that you're helping with the filming for "the Minnesota movie" and you'll get half off a lift ticket. I talked to the manager and they more or less hooked us up. Not quite a free lift ticket, but it still helps.

my friend doing the filming called and woke me up this morning to get me to come so i went. like 5th run my ski went all kamikaze and almost took out goepper and half the park. some manager guy told me i had to get it fixed or leave or else theyd take my epic pass. i tried

It was good. We got some shots for the movie and overall it was a good time. Not sure how big of a fan I am of Aftons park, but it was still fun none the less.

they look way better than laast year. i didnt get to see them up close or hit them but it looks as though they might have solved the need for massive speed checking... i hope

Hit them today. Really fun. Better than that triple line with 2 per pad at the beginning of the year last year. You need to haul ass into the second jump, and they're both pretty easy to boost.
 
Who's all going to be at the Tell A Friend Tour stops in Minnesota?

I'm going to be at all the stops in Minnesota filming the whole time. Would be sweet to rack some footage for the movie.

Tried to hit an urban rail into a creek for some shots. Had to call it quits when I observed that there was a flippin hole in the ice where you could see water flowing through. I miss the polar vortex.
 
Bumping this thread. How is everyones season so far? So far I've gotten a good amount of footage at a variety of resorts (Spirit, Elm Creek, Hyland Hills, Wild Mtn, and Trollhaugen).

Would like to keep pushing this film project and hear from everyone else. My ideas are to basically film as much as I can, wherever I go. Then at the end of the season gather film from as many other people as I can who ski in Minnesota. Then at the end of the year start trying to piece together the movie. Also, any ideas on an official name for the movie?

this lack of snow is detrimental any urban riders in Minnesota. yes, a lip can be built, but might as well just do it in the summer if there's only enough snow for an inrun and outrun... we need a big snowstorm.

Agreed. I'm waiting to get more snow up in Duluth for shooting urban. So many spots to hit, so little time.

The struggle is real with obligations such as school or work. When we did have snow, most of my friends were busy. That's why I decided to get a 20ft bungee (upgrade from 10ft). I can get speed by myself and all I'll need is one filmer. Heck, if I can't get I filmer, I have a tripod. but solo urban can go terribly wrong. stay safe.
 
Hey Minnesota, it a 4" base of snow in the cities too much to ask for? Right now we're barely sitting on an inch.
 
Figure we should probably start trying to organize who has what covered. As for me I have some footage from Troll, Hyland, Wild, Elm, and a good amount from Spirit.

I have basically zero urban footage.

I got a few shots at the rail gardens, a microscopic down rail, and a super long mellow dfd (footy is grainy as hell and it's just me sliding the whole thing to a backseat landing). Hoping to get some stuff with the new storm! Also found a few cliffs out at Giants that are pretty big for MN standards, just need more snow. The park is not shaping up to be great as I expected because the guy who knew the most about design quit. I can always email them about what I think they should do, they'll listen. It's still pretty sweet though.
