I'm up in Duluth, so I can really go to spots around the cities over Christmas break
 
cover chester bowl at some point, it looks so sick. literally just a puny ski hill in the middle of duluth. they have rails.

Yeah! I've thought about doing a tiny segment there, there's also mont du lac, which is near duluth

My friend from Finland is coming to Minnesota December 30th and we'll take a trip up to spirit between then and the 5th. Also hitting giants ridge, but their main park isn't set until mid January to early February.

okay, i'm thinking that we should plan some place in the cities, as that's where the biggest concentration of skiers in Minnesota are
 
It's getting closer to break. Lets make something happen. I'm thinking we go to Troll, Elm, Hyland, or Afton sometime in early January if that works with people. Weather will be the biggest factor.

Yeah, I'm planning on making it to both of the stops. Hoping to get enough footy to make 2 smaller segments of each resort for the movie. Should be a good time!

People should also come to the Master Shredder at Powder Ridge.
 
So there hasn't been a ton of input on a date to have a bigger sesh for people to meet up and ride together. I'm throwing up a date and a resort, let me know if this works for you or not.

Elm Creek on 12/22/2014. It's on a Monday so hopefully it won't be too packed over break. Let me know if this works for any of you, or if a different resort/time would work better.

I think it would be good to also plan a date to meet up over January if that would work for people as well.

Let me know if Elm Creek works for you and we'll make it happen. Also make sure to spread the word. The more skiers we can get to come, the more fun it will be, and the better segment we'll be able to produce.

23rd works fine, just about anything works for me until jan 5th (break is over). I'd just be stoked to show up.

Ok, I've read about every hill in MN on this thread except Lutsen. Whats up with that? If a little MN BC sounds good, PM me, I have some uniquely MN BC spots we hit when the snow gets deep like waterfalls, cliffs etc. Also if there is a crew willing to come up on a couple days notice, I can throw the word out when its about to dump 1' or more up here for some pow segments, plus Ive got mad pow ski hool up for anyone without fat skis. BTW P.O.S. for tunes.

Good idea, and yeah I'll be filming the Master Shredder event. Everyone should come out! Master Shredder is always a sick time.
 
also, i'm not in electric snail or affiliated with them at all but a couple friends and I ski Afton and we film occasionally. we could contribute a couple clips most likely!

I got a d3300 with a flycam nano, I'll try to come down to Afton with sammyhed over break and we can get some pretty lookin clips. I tried it out this weekend and the clips turned out nicely.

I'm also hoping to plan another sesh sometime after new years to get down to afton and meet up with some of you guys and also get some filming in. I'll let you know as it gets closer.
 
I was talking with a guy at giants ridge and he wants to reach out to the free skiing community there (because right now there's 2 skiers and countless boarders). I'll let you know when the big park is up, it's worth the trip usually- that's coming from a guy from Minneapolis. I feel like a small section of throwing down up there would be pretty cool, the place has a great vibe.

Agreed, it's only about an hour from Duluth, and I've never really seen an edit from there, so it would be cool to give it some exposure. I'm hoping to make it up there for a weekend sometime in february.

For sure, I have a couple edits from there on my YouTube channel (link in my sig). One from last weekend that kind of sucked, I didn't get enough shots because my friends insisted on taking the chair rather than hiking because they're lazy. I have one called February cold laps from last season. If you want to see some edits with a good skier from giants just google "Andrew Furin ski", his 2010-11 here on ns is from when he's 14 and his style literally crushes that of any other 14 year old out there. I'm not sure if he's riding this year, he did a little bit last year though, yeah, get him in the movie.

it improves every year. I'm talking with a guy working there to see if they can bring out their 20ft fat tube that doesn't ever stick regardless of conditions. it wasn't out last year.
 
Elm's setup is really fun, donkey dick is treacherous though. It took out about 4 or 5 skiers today. Tube is super fun, I got 2 tricks I've never done before on it and I was screamin.

Hell yeah! The first session was a success, filled with terrible weather and conditions, but people still decided to show up and ski Minnesotan style. Super stoked that a lot of skiers showed up and had a good time. Looking forward to some more seshes and getting to know more of the riders around the state. Hoping for some snow, so we can get the urban shots rolling.

Other planned sessions that I have in mind: Master Shredder @ Powder Ridge (January 4th), Tell a Friend Tour @ Wild Mtn & Trollhaugen (January 23rd & 24th).

Let me know your ideas for any other times, or ideas for the movie.
 
Got a couple of shots at the rail gardens yesterday. Then I realized both tricks have already been done on the exact same rail, the shots are pretty though, got lucky with the lighting and picked a good angle. Hoping to get a few more rails done this week depending on how reliable/motivated my local friends are...

he's out there right now. I had to cancel my trip because I'm sick as a dog. I even couldn't talk when I woke up so I decided to go back to sleep. Getting sick on winter break is the worst.

possibly, it really depends on if my friend from finland wants to do it. He's here for 2 weeks. Hitting spirit wednesday, giants thursday.
