The mars volta

i can vouch for that. saw them in toronto at kool haus. played just 4 songs, but 3 hours of jamming. hardly any pauses it was just one continuous flow. it was awesome.

they started off their concert "alright you fuckers" and got right into it, HAHHAA

TMV is so good. My favorite song is Take the Veil Cerpin Taxt. I really like that they have a concept behind their music.

you should see them live its all imporv and dope as hell i noticed like 2 familiar riffs when i saw them.... aw yeah and mack dawg used son et before PBP

my favorite song is eriatarka.

has anyone hear Cassandra Gemini? its a 30 minute song about a lady's trip to hell cause she got an abortion and its fucking intense. they rock so hard.

the mars volta is the best band that has even been. and frances the mute is the best album ever made.

this may be sad, but i can say i know every lyric on all three albums

The Mars Volta are incredible, my favorite songs would have to be...

1. Cassandra Gemini - one word, epic

2. This Apparatus Must Be Unearthed

3. Miranda That Ghost Just Isn't Holy Anymore

The first album is about a guy who falls into a coma and each song is one of his dreams in the coma. The last song he wakes up and realizes he is going to Hell and so he kills himself. (Based on a friend of theirs.)

The second album is based on a diary they found in a car of a guy trying to find his birth mother who turns out ot be Frances, a mute. Each song is about one of the people he meets in his search for his mother.

bahaha.

yeah the mars volta p00ns.

i prefer deloused in the comatorium over their new album. i forget the name though

^its called A Manual Dexterity by Omar A. Rodreguiz-Lopez

and Frances the Mute is BASED upon the diary they found. You see their friend was a repo guy and they found the diary in the back of somone's car, which I think is why the cover art has a car on it, because that's where it all started.

But anyway they based the story off the stuff in the diary and what the story in the album is about is a woman who gets an abortion.

Cygnus...Vismond Cygnus - is about the lady becoming depressed.

The Widow - her husband dies from emphazima from smoking. read the lyrics and you will know what Im talking about.

L'Via L'Viaquez - she visits a priest guy and they get in an argument about how she doesn't want to have a baby or something, I can't remember.

Miranda That Ghost Just Isn't Holy Anymore - She gets an abortion and at the end she commits suicide.

Cassandra Gemini - In hell she payes in gruesome ways for her sin. for example section Bis called "Plant a nail in the navel stream" which is about the abortion.

a very good album and many people have been hating on it. Deloused in the Comatorium was definatly much better, but that is a hard album to match. they are both good and I think they just came out with a new album called Scab Wounds. I haven't had a chance to listen to it or examine it yet or anything but Im gonna do it cause Im a huge fan of The Mars Volta.

another song ive been listening to lately is from the frances the mute album is cassandra gemini III. you'll probably like it.

most of the awsomeness you hear about them live comes from their visual performance. Like they're jumping on drum sets, breaking bottles on shit, and improvising at the same time. On Scab Dates, all you hear is the improvising. Its sick, of course, but it is not comparible to actually going to a concert of theirs.

i dont know, they sound kinda weird too me, in peps segment i cant understand poop

^Good, don't listen to them then.

For any true fans, check out the song Concertina. Its from an EP before De-loused, and definatety one of their top songs.

with the guys voice and all, they kinda remind me of a modern Rush, which is a good thing cause rush is sick, i love how prog rock's making a comeback.
