Well if you read the article I think it goes a lot further than that. But yes, don't be a dick. Sounds easy but how many people actually stay by it?
 
Agreed haha. But he talk about it so positively, if he truly is happy and he is capable of continuing... Why not?
 
It really is, and honestly I don't know if I could do it. Or at least not forever. I like my Jiberish, my ski pass. But I can really respect what he's doing
 
I can respect it to an extent but he kind of sounds like a douche. I sold my boat and decided to live in a trailer so now I'm better than the rest of the world and I'm going to tell you why.

To me life is about balance. I'm not saying the less people over consuming the shit out of our planet isn't good, just that I feel him and many others do this for the shock factor more than saving the world.

Sure bro. It's not like people weren't bartering shit ever. The thing with money is you can trade your goods for it, hold onto it and then trade it for goods you need instead of every transaction having to be direct.

 
I couldn't agree more about balance. I believe everything is about balance and that is why I don't think I could commit to such a extreme lifestyle like this guy. Money is obviously a useful tool in ways, as well as corrupting.

However not sure about him being a douche. I see what your saying, but that's a huge commitment, I tend to think a lot of his motive must come from himself
 
I guess, the idea of "living without money" is what kills me honestly. The problem I see in the world is people living above their means, and getting into debt. They consume consume consume, waste things, and end up a slave to an extent.

I agree that that is bad, but it's not the money that was the problem, it was the way they used it. To me the living without money situation is sort of a child like game. You're bartering for goods but refusing to take money just to prove a point.

Also try traveling without money. Let's say you refuse to work with money at all for any reason. You mostly deal in goats and homegrown fruits. Good luck taking your goats and fruit on the road to travel long distance, that will get you places.

Simply using money doesn't make you a slave to it, or a slave to the system as this guy seems to be pushing. Money is a tool, but it does not have to be your priority.

I get by on very little money. I don't have a lot of things, but I like where I'm at. I work a job that I would do for free, and have done for free because I love it. I travel a good amount in the warmer months on not much $. Does this guy live more off the grid than me? Off course, I'm on a fucking computer, but that doesn't mean that it's simply because I have money. It's how I personally choose to live. I buy my food with $ and I eat it because I'm hungry. I don't waste it.

Idk, I'm rambling but hopefully you get where I'm coming from

I dig through solid ice and drag around heavy objects till my back feels like there's a knife in it. And I fucking love it.

Building terrain parks. I actually spent about $300 last year to work all season at my og home mountain from when I was a youngin.

I take a pay check, cash it, buy food, pay the rent, put gas in the car, but that doesn't mean that my actions are driven by money.

I've had points where I was living on ramen for long periods because that's all I could actually afford. If I didn't love it I'd do something else.
 
How long do you plan on doing this for? How old are you? Have plans for afterwards? Did you go/in college? If so, what for?

Until I'm too old to do it anymore, don't want to do it anymore or dead.

24 right now, turning 25 this winter. This is year 8 doing this I believe.

For plans I'm always looking at what's out there job wise and trying to figure out what I want to do. Go for a job at a bigger mountain with an established parks or go with fixer upper places where there isn't much going on but I'd have the ability to be more creative.

Didn't go to college. Too much money, wasn't for me. I don't learn in a manner that it would have made sense for me to go. That was my reasoning then but for now it honestly wouldn't have helped me much with what I'm doing now.

I guess if I had done a small business management major of sorts that could have helped me if I decided to go down that route at any point. Or if I had dabbled in something with marketing, as I've been doing a bunch of it recently even though it's not generally my go to thing. Def skills I could have picked up but nothing that's really necessary.

 
This guy wrote a story about how he's almost homeless. Cool. He's not doing a damn thing for the world. He's become professionally useless and he is smart enough to do plenty of good for the world, what a waste. It has nothing to do with money, no one is forcing him to buy yachts just because he made money. He could still work and do something good with that money, work for free, all kinds of stuff other than sit in a trailer like the king of homeless people.
 
Exactly its not logical everything he did would have been easier if he had money. Personally i think denial of the world we live in is foolish, and taking extra time to essentially prove a point to yourself is also foolish.
