Most security is pretty cool at most venues. They'll take stuff because they had to but you generally won't get kicked out for smoking inside. I guess maybe if you're at totally the wrong show like hannah montana prolly but I wouldn't know.
A lot of security go to shows as well. Although usually for jam/electro type shows they get metal fans as security. Not bad or anything but they just want to make sure their team will do their job.
Then there's places like the house of rules where you wear the wrong sized hoodie and get arrested for breaking rule #199394493947734793743973927432 about the dresscode

My idea of awsome isnt a bunch of 14-16 year old stoner white kids in snapbacks listening to music that sounds like horse diahrrea. But hey, to each their own.
I think every venue in the us banned smoking indoors. Most places have a cig smoking section outside though.
And then the more raging shows who gives a fuck. Theres so many people on so many drugs if you want to chain smoke a pack to your face why not
