I don't find it as impressive as someone on a REAL skateboard doing REAL tricks. As for the kid having more skill than me, no, on a long board sure he is better than me (you wouldn't fucking catch me dead on one, but sure I'll give him that he is preobably better than most kids on a long board) As for REAL skate boarding I have been skate boarding since this kid was 4 years old. I have skate boarded 8 years longer than this kid has, so no I don't believe I'll be schooled by this kid or get any advice from him seeing as though when I was his age... 6 years ago... I had my first sponsor just like this kid.

Oh and longboarding is not fucking skating, so I don't have an elitist attitude towards skateboarders quite the opposite, but longboarding is not skating so I suppose I have an elitist attitude towards longboarders sure. I think longboarding is dumb as fuck unless you're flossing down a fucking hill at 50+ and sliding around corners, because that is dope as fuck, that is just as cool as someone throwing hammers down a big ass set. So yeah sure I have an elitist attitude to kids who do ride down mommy and daddy's drive way on a oversized skateboard and call them selves a skateboarder, or kids who toss on their flip flops, a LAX pinnie, drink a natty, and cruise down the middle of a road. It just isn't skateboarding and never will be.

That kid has some skills! Why do park and street skater skater only types gotta hate on longboarding? Did you guys know the worlds largest skateboard is called a skateboard, not a longboard. My point is enjoy viewing the talent and shut the fuck up. A skateboard is a skateboard. Some are long, some are short. Back in the day some longer skateboard were called Fucking kids these days! Do you dislike ski cross also since it overlapped racing with what was considered "freestyle" at the time?

You probably didn't have that attitude about skiing and snowboarding overlapping. If so get out of the pipe, stop buttering etc.. Yes we DID adapt techniques/styles from snowboarding.

An extreme example to take the piss... How about people? Should their be fusion and overlapping of races?

Flip tricks are for skateboards, and look fucking retarded when done on a longboard. Fuck, I even kinda used to be a fan of shove-its on longboards, but after seeing 449 of them in this edit, I think those are worn out too. The kid has some skills, but god damn...keep longboarding where it belongs: on long, steep hills. Throw in some sick slides, and bomb shit while going really fast. Skating around slowly on flat ground doing pseudo flip tricks is fucking lame.

He promised me a video of that tre flip to tailslide (pretty much impossible on a longboard) so I kind of trolled him by PM but he revealed himself very fucking weird for a guy his age (check his pictures, hes quite old).

To all the people saying that he shouldn't be doing all the flip tricks and low speed stuff, Michael Virgin got into longboarding his own way, and I'm guessing he would be hauling ass 45 mph down some huge hill if he had access to it. But he lives in OHIO. There are not huge hills and freshly paved roads in OHIO. Also, flip tricks on longboards are a shit ton harder than on a skateboard. Imagine taking a skateboard and doing a kickflip on it. Now add 10 inches to the length and put a 5 pound weight on it. Now try a kickflip again. Not so easy, is it? There are many aspects and styles in the sport of longboarding, and freestyle just happens to be a facet of it that Michael Virgin enjoys and excels at. So stop hating on him. He's sponsored by some pretty prestigious companies, has a fuckin huge bag of tricks, and if 14 YEARS OLD.

slide tricks on longboards are so gay, yes he has skill, but its just so boring to watch, hussing down a hill at 90 is way more insense
 
I think the anti trick longboard argument could be made more simple: Its gimmicky.

I understand that its a challenge and all, but it just seems unnecessary. That said, that kid is real talented..
 
i agree with this completely. i live in ohio and its very flat. i have 2 ok hills near me, neither have been re-paved for a very long time. he has fun how he wants to have fun, no need to tell him its not real, because im sure all of those tricks took a lot of practice to learn
