The Little Guy

I come on here almost daily. I read of those of you at Whistler, Aspen, Tahoe, Killington... at first I get pretty jealous, you are rolling in more man made snow the first week of the season than I have seen in my life. Your mountain hires people to make sure your jumps are just right, and you have the freedom to session it all day long.

Then I realize how happy I am that I ski at a tiny, 2 T-Bar, member-owned resort. I'm an instructor, but it's only to pay off my food tab (and to make sure my home slopes stay above water and don't close forever. We are a family, you wont have that at a big resort.. I can name every liftie, shop guy, kitchen gal, instructor, any member... and I know them more than just their name. I know what it is to spend an entire day working on one jump, just to come back the next and session my masterpiece. There's a lot to be proud of, especially for such a small place. My pride outweighs my envy for huge resorts.

good job shying away from the main stream advertising, trends, and so called "progression." Skiing is a RECREATIONAL sport. for you illiterates that means have fun

i love it. that's what it should be about, pride and having fun... its funny, i feel like eventually skiing will become harder and harder to get to.. then we will appreciate it more everyday

i used to ski at a 2 tbar resort and it was deffinatly like a family but then it closed and now i am skiing at a bigger place and it is pretty awsome

word up. went back to my little home hill last week and missed that feeling of belonging- when you know everyone and its all a family then like you say there's nothing to be prouder of. lose that feeling and that status and you'll always wish you never had.

i ski at a small hill in wisconsin and am an instructor/ groomer, i feel that i know a some of the other employees and the people that ski and snowboard there everyday. i like that feeling of knowing a lot of people and stuff like that.
