Quote Reply Figured it was about time for me to chime in on this one, just to confirm what a few other folks have already surmised, and officially set the record straight.
Yes, we did run into a few issues with this year's Grey Stripe Crew. The colors didn't quite match up with what we had selected, though in my personal opinion, the end result looks even better then our original design.
Slightly more offensive, was the error in the treatment to the Level 1 logo. Apparently our manufacturer mistakenly used the treatment for the logo designed to accommodate the zipper on our hoodies, on the crewneck. The line art you see on the Level 1 site is the line art we provided to the manufacturer...
Aside from the fact that getting samples may have solved these issues (not that samples even guarantee results, as we've learned the hard way!), neither Level 1, nor Jiberish, are at fault for this. I know both companies strive to provide our customers with the highest quality products we can put out, and the highest quality customer service experience to back it up.
Unfortunately, there's no quick or effective fix to switch the colors, or repair the Level 1 script logo. Another run of crewnecks from scratch would take months, and chances are the manufacturer wouldn't pick up the tab. Repairs to the embroidery aren't likely to leave us with a finished product that we're any happier with either.
As someone who's been involved in producing products, be it movies, T shirts, hats, posters, and a mess of other related items for well over a decade, I can safely say that imperfection is just the nature of the beast. No matter how much planning, pre-production, or thought go into putting something together, even with the best manufacturers, replicators, and printers in the world, the end result is rarely going to be exactly what you set out to achieve... the only difference here is that this time around we decided to make an item available for sale before we had complete and final confirmation on how the finished product would look.
We're addressing the problem by contacting each and every one of the customers that purchased the Grey Stripe Crew, providing pix, and allowing them to choose to either cancel their order for a full refund, swap the Grey Stripe for the 10-Year Crew, or go ahead and confirm their order. Not sure what else we can do beyond that, but we're committed to making sure every single one of our customers walks away happy with the outcome...
I know the good folks at both Jiberish and Abstract Mall are also bending over backward to accommodate every last customer, and I hope its something that all of our customers can appreciate.
