I Guess its going to have more capabilities than the ipod and be WI-fi.

Its not actually called an XPod, its called a zune. Im guess people are just calling it that cause its like an ipod.
 
The picture you have above is a fake. The actual device is real, but the software is not.

It's very unlikely Sirius would give up their technology to a portable mp3 player other than the iPod. About a year ago, Sirius's president or CEO (don't remember which one) made a statement that they were in the works of introducing a proposal to Apple to put Sirius on the iPod hardware. Steve Jobs shot it down.

That does provide fuel for Sirius to go to Microsoft, but that device is definitely not an iPod killer. Remember, there've been 10,000 iPod killers released in the last 3 years.

I believe having Sirius radio on a small handheld like that would demolish battery life. I know the wifi is going to be a heavy power consumer if it's 802.11. It won't be Bluetooth b/c who wants to transfer data at 115.2. IMHO, the wifi is just a gimmick to get the attention of consumers. This is presumptive, but a turd with an antenna out of it is still a turd.

The project is called Argo (sorry if someone already mentioned that).
 
is it fake? i just got it from some link posted earlier. and i bet the battery life would be drained as well.

does anyone else here not like ipods? i think they're way too expensive. i have a 40gig creative and it was $150 less than the 40gig ipod. it's a little bigger than an ipod, but i'm never in a situation where i need to have it somewhere small. and i always hear on NS about people bitching about their broken ipods, and my creative has never broken in the 3 years i've had it.

None of those iPod killers have been made by a company with the power Microsoft has.

Along with the mp3 player supposedly they're making a portable gaming console. They may be one in the same. Theres a lot of rumors going around about it.

From what I've read its gonna be able to connect to other Zunes so you can listen to their music. For example you're on a bus and you see someone listening to music, you'll be able to view their songs and mark them for download later. Also if theres wireless xbox 360 connectivity I might have to get one. It probably won't be Mac compatible though so I'll probably stick with the iPod.
 
you are correct:

It will feature WIFI, making downloading to the player instead of needing an "Itunes" to get music on it.. it will also feature a TRUE VIDEO PLAYER as well as more capabilites as far as address book and notes and games as well as better sound quality and will use wma, mp3, mp4, avi, mpeg, wmv...
 
Hell yea dude. I got a 20g Dell DJ for $100 less than the same size ipod and its never broken in the year that ive had it. Its a little heavier than an ipod but the outside of it is metal so its durable as shit.
 
Wow you make good points. I didnt know Dell sucks. I better get an iPod now. I mean it's probably better to have it break after 6 months anyway cuz there'll probably be a newer iPod out by then so Ill have to get the new one to keep on top of the trends. Thanks man.
 
All I know is my iriver cost 200 bucks, it's as small as a Nano, holds 2 GB, and plays video and MP3/4 and has a bigger display. Can't wait.

dude BSODs don't happen anymore. what, are you running windows 98?

 
buddy.. it was a joke.. but yes.. the can still occur.. and i run windows xp pro sp2. it happens when there is a problem with a driver or system file and windows is forced to shut down.

i dunno, from what i hear the next ipod is gonna have a touch screen, so the whole device is a screen. i think that would be cooler than this xpod or w/e
