I am sick and tired of some people taking everything they see on the internet as true. Prime example, I am doing a presidential project in my US history class and some girl walked around with proof that President Bush is the worst president ever. We looked at the website and it was written by liberals, who were probably biased because of the political stance they take. Soo many kids at my school do that and take it as actually fact. It pisses me off when they do that because another kid was certain that the holocaust didnt happen because he say a website on it. The fact is anyone can post whatever they want on the internet and it could be false. So please do not make this mistake when using information from the internet.

(Note that my first example has nothing to do with my political stance)
 
yea it is stupid. but anyone with a brain in their head will know whats legit and not. if its a random URL its not to be trusted until you see sources. if its a goverment or corperational/small business website its more believable but sources are needed.
 
Ahhhh the internet, invented by Al Gore in 1991, I'm super cereal about that (joke)

Anyway, the internet is probably one of the greatest things man has ever created. IN a few short clicks you can get almost any fact you ever wanted to know. The thing is deterring fact from fiction. I mean let's face it, it's not just the internet that feeds people's minds with a spoon, it's everything. Peers, media, etc etc... I believe the internet is probably one of the greatest social infrastructures ever known to man. It is greater than the display of knowledge in Alexandria, or the Library of Congress. Like I said, all you need to do is determine what is fact and what is opinion/fiction.

anyways...i agree that the internet is an awesome tool, but i think that all this MySpace/Nexopia bullshit is out of control. i know kids who live on these sites...its disgusting. people need to get a life.
 
That better be a joke. This kid knows what he's ranting about. I completely agree with his argument. Besides, the Holocaust DID happen, but it was filmed in an airplane hangar in Jacksonville, Missouri, the same place Jesus' second coming occurred to quell the conflict between the Lehi and the Nephi, 2 ancient tribes who came over in little wooden submarines from Israel.
 
he asked what grade are you in beacsue most people of a certina age know not to trust the internet and alreayd have the common sense to understand that there is a lot of bullshit out there.
 
Then you have trusted sites like www.wikipedi.org that can be changed temporarily by clicking on the edit button. The thing is though that it takes wikipedia administration a while to find what errors someone purposly put into an article and by that time someone else may have copied down that wrong information for an important project. When doing school work the best information is found in the library.
 
true say. however, you do have to watch out for some books too, because they can be written from very biased points of view, and can be written based loosely around "facts". like the bible, which many people choose to believe was written by the apostles, a group of menial labourers at a time when mainly elite scholars were capable of written word
