The importance music in ski videos

I think that if a segment have a song that isnt good or sucks is it like all the skiing in the segment sucks or isnt worh watching. I just skip to watch the segment every time. Is it the same for you?

Mikael's segment in Stereotype is pathetic thanks to the song. But Wilson's, Nick's, IannickB's, and Turpin's on the other hand are made twice as good thanks to the song.

um, thats just about the best song for mick's segment. not only is it dope as fuck, but it expresses how the kid is in our industry, kinda helps peoiple who don't know him to learn what he is all about

I just saw Salad Days for the first time the other day, and my impression of the whole movie was decreased because of the music. I think that if I were to want to see it again, I'd put it on mute, and listen to some other music over the top of it.

ya the music if picked well really gives a segment a nice flow and feel and gives it that extra flair of excitment

and if picked or edited poorly, it takes away from the movie experience.

Some movies have to change the music up . like strike three it is mostly rap they needed some more rock in it.

even though steele's segment in strike 3 was incredibly sick...the song is sooo bad. so i never watch that segment. and what do you mean mickael's seg song sucked? that went soo well with it. and wilson's was just the dumbest song ever, no matter how well it went w/ his skiing.

 
They should have like a video with only the video and voice parts on it and then you could add your own muzack. Cause like everybody likes different kinds of muzack and a song that pumps one person up may be a major turn-off for another...

I find that all segments need music. but a segment with poor music just means that the skier has to be that much better! Sometimes a kick ass flowing song can make up for a less than great segment. the best example of picking good music for a segment is Runnin' during Candide's segment in happy dayz that segment was sweet. it flowed, it was edited well (another important component of segments), and he did high quality tricks.

morrison's segment in sm3 was ruined by his song. i love his segment, but the song sucked. he should definately had the Pistols playing in the background

yeah, matchstick is pretty good at picking music that either sucks or just doesnt fit. poor boyz has it down... that and ostness with Tee Time, the unofficial acid trip of ski movies.

 
two things

1. in happy dayz I thought it was CR's squaw valley buddy who was rapping?

2. PBP and many companies not just IBERG edit around the music. most companies use the music for timing segments, actions, and helping ppl feel the flow of a segment.

some guys let the athletes choose their music, as everyone knows and has read about dion is a special person. he played that song well, and he picked it I assume.

i didnt think morrison's song in SM3 was that bad. the skiing was so rediculous, maybe i just dont care about the song. i should watch it again and see what i really think about the song.

SKI MOVIE alwalys throws down the best tracks, that probably cause the more or less stick to Van City Shiznat,

nahh strike three had the best sound track by far, but i agree that music makes or breaks a ski movie

the cypress hill song in morrisons segement was a perfect fit for his tyle of skiing but the second one by soul diver i think was just terrible, it was just yelling about stupid shit. but like when the big avalanch is chasing him its like 'Noooooooooooooo troubles at ma doooooooor!' that was so ill. and the same thing plays as hes doin that rodeo 7 off of like that 80 foot cliff, that was so crazy. and i watch critchtons segment in stirke three like twice as much as any other segment in that movie for the song. and every rock song sucked in strike three. it was like copycat rock shit, nothing deep, unlike the rap. the rap in that movie had some emotion and truness to it, thats why it was so ill. except 7l and esoteric's song, ohh good...
