At least not in the last 10000 years it hasn't. WE still can't even eliminate sexism let alone save our own planet. There is still racism, there is still sexism, we are polluting the world we live in, there are religious wars, poverty, theft, lying, GREED. It seems to me like we're just repeating the same mistakes as the Romans and the Medievel Kings of Europe were doing, just with iPods and surround sound stereo. We still can't even get a grasp on what Jesus was preaching 2000 years ago, or what Buddha was teaching 6000 years ago. What the fuck people? I'll grant that there are a few ascended individuals that have helped the world, but we simpletons still can't give a fuck. Do you know about Norman Ernest Borlaug? The man saved 6 billion live with his genetically engineered wheat strains. He won the nobel prize in 1960. In 2007 Al Gore won tne Nobel PEACE prize for making a movie that was proven wrong 1 year later, and he caused mass choas at the same time.

Why the Fuck can't humans grow up and ascend their caveman-like status? You can trace it through history. We are just useless monkeys, repeating the same mistakes over thousands of years. Except now we have iPods, and are better at killing than before. WE still pollute, we lie, steal, we kill, we assault, we pillage, but we still have poor, hungry, war torn people on the planet that we are singlehandedly destroying. Cool.
 
sexism is an attitude that is helpful to the survival of the species. I don't believe it has any place in today's world but it has been prevalent for thousands of years--men did the fighting, women reared children to fight or rear more children. men are naturally better at fighting, no denying it.
 
Grow up, such is life... what are you doing to solve any of those problems, everyone needs to help and most are not interested in helping, do the math.
 
Well, first, I like to form coherent sentences with punctuation and grammar. Second, you did think about it, didn't you? You did put in some thought on the whole matter? Maybe the problem is not with me growing up, but the entire human civilization growing the fuck up. Al Gore raised the awareness of Global Warming to the point in which everyday people now see it as a threat, whether or not SOME of the ideas in his movie were proven wrong (By "credible" Republican climatologists) he may very well save millions of lives in the future by raising awareness. (sounds like a decent candidate for the Nobel Prize to me)

Sexism and racism will continue if we keep looking at people in groups instead of individuals. Stupid people keep on having children. Intelligent people won't bring children into this world because of the way its looking right now. I think the best we can do is just try to live our own lives and hope for the best at this point.
 
Yes, but did he deserve the Nobel Peace prize? He did, in no way, preserve peace and harmony. The fact that more and 'credible' climatologists *(ON BOTH SIDES OF THE POLITICAL SPECTRUM)* are acknowledging Al Gore's blatant misuse of facts and gross exaggeration of the consequences of Global Warming. In reality, 82% of global warming is caused by water vapor. CO2 a lowly 2.6%. What now biatch.

Yes but for how many billion years has this been going on for? This is a natural part of nature, our extra 2.6% is unnatural so you can't tell me that these millions of pounds of extra C02 are doing nothing unless you have your head firmly up your ass.

just a quickie, because this is not a global warming thread, the co2 is supposed to only have a 1-2 degree effect on the planet.Not 10-13 like Gore said it would. Its not like teh snow is going to melt completely and New York will sink.

Exactly. We are never going to fix all of the world's problems. And to the thread creator, you can sit and bitch about how shitty people's situation is, or you can actually do something about it. For starters, how about encouraging other people to find a cause they are passionate about instead of condescendingly moaning how stupid and mean humans are?
 
The ocean accounts for 90% of CO2 emissions, and volcanoes account for something like 8 or 9%. CO2 is dependent on temperature because the Ocean's CO2 emissions depend on temperature, not the other way around.

As for the whole "Don't categorize people into groups" thing, that is human nature, and it always will be. Our brains work by recognizing patterns in a system. When you look at people as a system of traits, our brains will naturally find patterns. My thinking is pretty abstract and hard to follow, so sorry if this post just comes off as babble.

Thats a little self centered don't you think? Do you really believe that America is that important that it will be able to change the human race? America is in decline, it will take time but your influence is weakening and you're alienating the rest of the world at a wicked rate.

Hopefully the next president will be able to affect some things in America itself, because from an outsiders point of view America has enough problems internally to satisfy any reformer for years without trying to police the world. I have never seen such hate, segregation and racism or ignorance anywhere I have been in the world that I have seen in my trips through the states for games.

Look at your education system for example, we seriously conviced some girls in the states that Canada has a metric clock and that we were tired because it was hour 84. All they knew about Canada was that it was above them, we say "eh" apparently every other word, and we are all French of course. I have never found this ignorance in any other country that I have been to, Western, Asian or eastern.

everyone has interracial marriage and has many many babies. fuck we make a law that only interracial marriage is aloud so eventually all the races would be mixed and we all be like a part of everything and look closer alike and the main thing we gotta do is GET RID OF ALL RELIGIONS they only cause war.

I agree with most of what you said but you say we're just useless monkeys. We are worse. Or, this civilization we have created is worse. It relies on the constant conversion of the living to the dead in order to gain profit, a made up and totally useless form of assisting life in any sane world. Monkeys tend not to rape, pillage, pollute, make money, waste their lives in jobs they don't like to gain minimal reward, reward which is mainly of non necessity etc.
 
I meant his teachings of compassion, love thy neighbor, all that jazz. Instead, we take these teachings as an excuse for wanton chaos and destruction. We didn't even stop to think. All the religious fanatics took his name and stripped it of value, and used it as a flag with which to wage war or provide prejudice.
 
welcome to the real world, open up your eyes, take a look around, the human race will never change without a catastrophic event occurring be it nuclear war, massive volcano eruption, rise of sea level, plague whatever you prefer, and then after the world recovers (assuming it does) it will go back into a rapid decline again, welcome to human nature, everyone wants something in return for their work, it's just our nature
 
I don't believe in our nature. If we have the power to destroy the planet, we should be able to supercede our animalistic nature.
 
You say we are destroying our planet, but all we are doing with global warming is causing an intense global climate change. Whether or not global warming is as intense as Gore said it is, there is irrefutible evidence of a global climate change. Melting glaciers, shrinking icecaps, more intense storms. But that's not what this thread is about. Eventually at this rate, the weather will get so intense, people will start dying. The planet WILL repair itself, unless of course we nuke it and end it all. The planets weather will get crazier and crazier until most surface creatures, or at least humans, are dead, and it will slowly recess back to normal.

We are not killing the planet, we are killing ourselves.
 
I have one question. Why is it that if anything to do with the destruction of our planet is mentioned, people have to start reffering to global warming? there's plenty of other problems to be addressed alongside global warming too....

maybe we should pay attention to endangered species, deforestation, disease, hunger, idk, 1,000s of other things ALONGSIDE of global warming.
