The House Board Shop

from what i have been told it is only online maybe that has changed. I wouldnt mind buying from them they are mostly cool people up there.

Seriously? I hope you guys aren't considering buying your ski stuff from The House?

That is like buying Abercrombie and Fitch from TJ Maxx. It might be cheap, but it is close-out goods and it doesn't support anything besides their pockets.

You guys didn't work this hard for a legitimate identity as skiers to go whore yourselves out for the cheapest product you can find.

well i remember back in the dark days when i bought a boeard from them they were super super helpful and knew everything. this way like four of five years ago and i dont know about their ski knowledge but i wouldnt bad mouth them this fast without knowing for sure.

I went there to buy some wakeskate shoes for sailing and it just seemed like they didnt really want my business. Its probably because they do much of their business via the internet or something

I don't believe anyone was "bad mouthing" anyone. I know it is a great place to purchase a snowboard, and I say that because I hope they would say the same about Pinewski's - we have different customers.

But if they were a real ski shop - why is this their first year carrying skis? That is point that is being made.

It doesn't need to go any farther than that - everyone can come to their own conclusions.

Negative.

Cal Surf used to carry aggressive inline skates - they dropped them about 4 years ago.

Pinewski's is the last brick and mortar to carry aggressive inline skates.

Cal Surf is a great place to buy skateboards and snowboards. They are definitely a driving force for action sports in MN. It is much like the Pinewski's of MPLS, but we carry more diverse product.

Core for sho.

Man the house is where its at I am so happy they are selling skis now!!! It is the most chill shop I know of, no offense to pinewskis, I have been going to the house since I was about 12 years old and had a lot of fun in the bus they used to keep at their shop. Cool shit man.

No offense but I would go to the house before I would go to pinewskis. I like the vibe the house gives off better than pine. Plus it's less than a mile from where I live and pinewskis is way the fuck out there somewhere, that might be the reason too idk..

How much did they pay you to say that?? HAHA

Just kidding...

But I know what you mean they do put on some cool contests. Plus I'm kinda biased being 50/50 snowboarder/skier.

alright i now agree with the general consensus

i sent them an email asking a ton of question about what they knew about skis and if they were going to sponsor anything skiing and all they said was yeah our employees went skiing a few times this season and have been on skis in the past...

haha i wondered why it said it wasnt new. my first e-mail is at the bottom.

Hi Jon,

Yeah, as the two sports have merged with twin tip skis and the general

community being more integrated, we decided to get into the skiing side of

things. Currently the staff is going to be a bit more knowledgeable about

boarding, but we are all going to be well schooled in skiing by the time

next season gets underway. Lots of the staff have skied in the past, and

most of us got on a pair at least a couple of times last year to get ready.

Currently there isn't much winter gear in the showroom, but stop by in

September or October and there will be lots of ski stuff as well as all of

the snowboard gear you could ever imagine. We also expanded the showroom

last year- lots more space to display gear.

Thanks for the email.

Regards,

Andy

hi,

I recently saw that you have started to carry skis in your shop. I was

wondering what your intentions are in this area. Are you simply selling them

since the market in this area has increased a whole lot or because you would

like to be more involved in this area? Will the house become more of a

winter sports and summer sports shop rather than a boardshop?

Back when i used to snowboard i came to the house and it was amazing.

super friendly and knowledgeable staff. i think his name was ryan he walked

me through the whole process answered any questions i had and helped me pick

out a whole package. it was freaking awesome. i'm curious to know if you

would have anyone like this for the skiing side of things.

i think that if you would support the ski industry by putting on a few

skiing events or contests and stuff of that nature it would show the ski

community how enthusiastic you are about skiing. they would simply have to

be just skiing events if you could somehow mix the two together even that

would be pretty awesome.
