The "holy shit, that was amazing" X Games thread

Good day my ski brethren, I've got just a few matters I want to discuss. I'd love to have your attention for my thoughts and then hear your responses!

It goes down like this: X Games pipe was ri-goddamn-diculous and I just want to give props to a short list of things that I thought were pretty incredible. It goes like this:

1) Colby's 3rd place run. Damn, Colby knows how to pull it out when he needs to, a true competitor and a goofball to boot. Gotta love the guy.

2) Almost every one of Tanner's landings. His skis must have gecko-foot technology in the bases because he was glued to the top of the tranny on every landing. Unbelievable.

3) Dumont's 900 first hit, 3rd run. Almost shat my pants.

So what blew your mind?

I basically shat when i saw simons first hit, it was nuts. Peter had such a good run going too, to bad he fell.

2) Yes, Tanner's landings are the most ridiculous things, ever. Perfection nearly every time.

3) I'd also like to say, I almost shat my pants as well on Dumont's 3rd 1st hit. 20.8ft up I believe...speechless.

1) Colby, such a nice run. And I like the mohawk.

4) The Whiskey Flip was definitely my favorite jump in the comp though, when he stuck it, I thought for sure 3rd place at least, too bad though.

All i want to say on the entire comp, apart from the obvious is:

Tanner deserved it

Simon was unlucky

Jossi should have been credited higher for his 3rd run, Andreas also.

The main thing i wanted to see is:

Tanners 3rd run (after already winning)...

Massive Kang on 3rd hit.

That is all.

same. i considered getting up at 4.30am to watch it, but i've got a 3 hour run today so i didnt

pics look ridiculous, simon went huge

another point that i would like to add

1) who in the fuck is matt hayword how have i never heard his name before??!?!

2) that kid STOMPEDDD the fuck out of a first hit 12 that was what 15 almost 16 feet out dammmn

i know right. i hope he will be competing in other pipe comps this year, because i think he'll do nicely

simon's third hit was the sizzle, almost got a full on bonner over that. tanners consistency was the shit. how well the athlete's trew down considering the condititions.

was not impresses with the reaction of the crowd aqt tanners win, bit disresectful to someone who has done so much for our sport. although simon did get scored pritty low considering how much balls it must have taken to throw a 20" 900 on first hit.

i was pissed at first... but watch the Jon's video blog. a second look... really makes it seem like they got everything right. and im stoked on tanners little interview at the end... he just seems kinda cocky, not extreme cocky like i thought he was.

here are the best things

6) andreas boosting 16 feet switch

5) pete olenick's picture with the taped glasses

4) jossi wells

3) whiskey flip grab

2) tanner winning gold and being a respectable guy

1) dumont's run (i thought it was better)

Mike Riddles 10, third hit. Thats the kinda ish i like to see. he also tweaks his grabs while spinning hard and has the best 10 in pipe fer sherrr

I basically agree with everyone

1) Tanner's amazing smooth run, god on skiis.

2) Dumont booting out over 20ft... jaw droped when he did that.

3) Whisky flip was dope

When Andreas figures out how to maintain a consistent speed, he will be a huge threat, super super tech runs, but unfortunately, loosing steam the whole way down the pipe.

I've got a lot more respect for Tanner. Especially after watching Jon's videoblog with Tanner's little interview. Before I thought he was just a punk who had no clue how to do any public speaking whatsoever. For the first time I actually felt bad for him when people were booing him. That's such bullshit to do to a guy like Tanner who has progressed the sport so much and taken pipe skiing to a whole new level.

dude i looked through your videos and i couldn't find the video of you stomping the shit out of a whisky flip in the x games superpipe finals. have you uploaded it yet dude i really wanna see it.

i thought jossi shoulda got third. and fuck all the assholes that booed tanner. boo the judges, leave the guy who killed it alone.

Currently I am so wowed by this snowmobile racing.  Like holy shit they are going so fast OMG OMGOMGO some guy just went like off the ground.  This is fuckin AWESOME

Try and back up your #1.

If Simon wants to win, he has to train himself to spin rightside 9's. Once he does that there will be a real competition for pipe next year. He has to also fit something as steezy as Tanner's flat 3 into his run and with 5 hits you can't really do that.

It might have looked sicker since he was boosting 21 feet, but he basically took the same run as last year except with a little tap on his tail on the 12 and a smoother 7. Tanner keeps moving forward, while Dumont does the same thing.

Not hating on Dumont's run, that was some sickkkkkkkkkk shit, but tanner's was just that much better. I don't understand how Tanner didn't beat his score from last year.

going to snowboarding..

heikki sorsa one footed 180 (took one foot out of binding before money booter and landed it)

Bringing this thread back because we need it.

On to slopestyle... unfortunately I haven't been able to watch anything but the top 3 runs, so all I have to say is:

Jossi's switch 10 JAPAN, grab held forever, DEEP in the landing. I always figured that must be one of the hardest grabs to spin big with.

fucken rights..... defs was going to say that if noone else said it.... fucker haha

have you seen his part in picture this tho? so many sick 1 foots

btw Heikki's one foot was a 3 not a 1... he took off with his back foot out and landed with his back foot out if that helps at all

gagnier's switch 12 last hit stomp like 45 feet past hte nuckle to hyper boot flex swan glide recovery. shit was BURLY.

dolplads second run oozing steeze...made me excited for the future of this sport

jossi's ability coupled with effortless steeze...made me even more excited for the future of this sport
