The History of Rail Sliding?

I know JF Cusson was the first one to try one on skis, or so i read, but when was that?. Also, does anyone find it strange that there's hardly any rails in the 99 films, then in 2000, every third shot seemed to be a rail? So whats skiings history in railsliding?

I JF was the first it would have had to be some time before the 98'-99' season cuz I bin jibbin since 98'. I think the origin of it is from skateboarding to snowboarding to skiing, but some may have other theories.

Yes, I know that... I'm stating what I know, and I know that JF would have had to have been jibbing before 98'. I don't know exactly when, but at least this is somewhere to start.

When did coolboarders 2 come out 96, 97?, i remember after that i hopped on some logs and stuff, and what ever was around, but I don't think it ever ended up in a full fledged grind.

I think it was back in around 1993 when JF first started sliding rails and stuff, thats when he started doing 360 mutes and stuff... I remember there was this Mogul contest at Mont-Saint-Sauveur (Qc), between 1993-1995 and the last jump was kicker with no moguls following it... So JF and the rest of the quebec crew were thorwing all kinds of new tricks for back then...

It was pretty sick to see

 
yeah dude no offense but you really suck at posting. I higly doubt that JF was the first to ever slide a rail. Thats kind of like saying Mosely was the first to do a mute grab, theres thousands of other skiers out there too.

dude Jf made rails known just as mosely made the mute 3 known. I remeber seeing a skier jib a rail in calgary in like 96 with abunch of boarders he fell hard, but he did it, and 10 bucks says he wasn't even close to the first.

sacrifice, to some its just a word, to others it is a code, what matters is the colony, he is willing to live for the colony, fight for the colony, die for the colony.

 
i know alot of kids adapted from snowboarders, and then just fed off of that, kinda like everythng else in our sport.

Being Irish, I guess I should resent the Notre Dame nickname 'The Fighting Irish.' After all, how long do you think nicknames like 'The Bargaining Jews' or 'The Murdering Italians' would last? Only the Ironic Irish could be so naively honset. I get the feeling that Notre Dame came real close to naming itself 'The Fuckin Drunken, Thick-Skulled, Brawling, Short-Dicked Irish'

Im willing to bet that skiing was the first sport to ever have someone do a rail. Maybe not seriously, but at somepoint or another in skiings comparitivly long history, somone slid a rail. Before Jf, or before any skateboarder or snowboarder.

 
i would have to agree, EXCEPT for surfers, they were hitting the steel way before skiers were

wow cj, that must be a first, and a second, and a third, and an eighth. wow crazy. yeah, I think skiers were first too. I don't know much about surfing so I can't comment on that.
