anyone agree with me that skiing had a quantum leap in steeze, skill, and overall creativity the same year happy dayz, ski movie 3 and strike 3 came out? That was the first year when skiing could truly rival snowboarding in my opinion

logan where are you Tech Orientation...that alone is reason for me to say that...we've had this skiing conversation thousands of times i wanted to hear what skiing had to say about this

they werent really around then

it was like when Tanner and CR and PEP all took skiing by storm

boyd easley was still around so was like mike laroche and shawn sullivan

it was the year of those sick volkls with the wizards on them

i agree..but snowboarding is still way more progressed than skiing is...but it think soon skiing will catch up..lets hope!

if mikael actually skiied more than 5 days in a season and had a full video segmet.....our eyeballs would explode in amazement

yeah i was talking to my friend about that.  i think the year propaganda came out AND the year happy dayz came out were both quantum leaps for skiing.  propaganda is when people really started to do dope switch tricks (see vinnie dorion and jon), and then in happy dayz is kinda where skiing started to get its own image i think, and also when unnatural spins became a real thing that people tried to do.  oh and STYLE happened that year.

haha what the fuck is going on in this thread? but yeah i agree, Happy Dayz is still one of, if not my favorite, ski movie. its insane how much it jumped

Ok, more are on the way, most notably stereotype and happy dayz, but

hang on bad connection... I'll post tomorrow, sorry everyone. In order, SM2, Propaganda, Scandalous, then SM3. I'm going to bed, night.

you dont know shit. tanner's gorilla steeze did nothing but inspire a bunch of wannabe gangstas to start bending at the waist like prison inmates. you want a quantum leap? try 1999 to 2001. the level of skiing in propaganda made heros out of guys like jp, jf, and jon. by the way, anybody remember jf's cab flat 7 tails? what a fuckin sick trick.

the big gap was this year, skier finaly started doign legit stuff on urbans and going wayyyyy fucking huge off natural hits.

no way. the year leather boots and straps went to plastic boots and bindings. early '50's i think. ye ye.. thats when it all happened

i think there was a huge step up from the propaganda/strike 3 year to the 1242/forward year. i also think that the difference between the 1242/forward year and the X/high 5 year was negligible at best. in particular, pep and DC killed it so hard the year before, and the next season didn't really continue at that rate at all, for anyone. except tanner.

propaganda and strike 3 were different years.

I agree not much happened from 1242 to x=ten and high five. But what about candide's cork 810 to rail, Iannick B's 270 on to 360 switch up?

Completely agree. There is such a huge progression between Propaganda, Happy Dayz and 1242, its amazing. Past that, I dunno, nothing much has gone down since then, at least not at that rate.

sidenote. watch thall's part in happy dayz, and remix it to a song not by swollen members...and it could outclass the great majority of today's segments. i'm dead serious.

that song is SO BAD, but his seg in SM3 killed his in happy dayz

Sm3 killed happy dayz in production quality and coolness too- the whole macho limo thing was stupid

this is coming from a MSP hater too

I know, and I have to agree. Candide, Pep, Tanner, CR and the crash segments were all better in SM3 than Happy Dayz. Plus, the crazy ass Glacier Gap segment...man, I'm going to go watch that movie, hang on.
