The Great Gatsby

We don't read any of those books at school in Australia but Catch 22 is my favourite book, Attonement is second and the Great Gatsby is my third favourite book. I also really enjoyed Catcher in the Rhye.

i saw the trailer a while back in the cinema and i thought, why would anyone watch this shit. maybe its just the trailer, but this looked so uneventful, its not even funny.

Book was decent, movie was horrible. There was almost no meaningful dialogue the entire time, none of the girls were attractive, and even Leo wasn't that great. Or maybe I just couldn't stand the whole fucking old sport thing.....

I thought the movie was average. I could sit through it, didn't wanna leave or anything, but there wasn't anything profound or thought-provoking, it was just average. But the music did get unnecessarily loud and obnoxious occasionally.

I actually really enjoyed the music. but that might be because I'm into the XX and Del Ray. and there were several variations throughout the entire movie.

Also don't know if anyone has seen the vinyl release of the soundtrack. Not something I would pick up... But holy shit is there some awesome detail.

What do you mean?

The whole rehab center/mental institute thing was seemed liked a stupid addition to me

Thoroughly enjoyed. It's probably my favorite book of all time next to maybe the Catcher in the Rye, and the movie did not ruin that at all. True it wasn't so accurate, but my god was it done well. And LEO... YES.

Were reading this book in my English class because it ties into the American Dream also. I hate my teacher and were on ch. 6 currently with 8 days of school left. Me and my friend refused to read it because since we were behind her schedule that she had for us, we had a ton of homework and crap to do with the book to get caught up. There was a pop quiz on ch. 1-5 one day and I obviously failed it and so did my friend. Oh well, with 8 days of school left, I don't really care.
