I am thinking about getting my g/f a new ski set up. She has not skied since she was little. What should I think about getting her? Something not too expensive since it is just an entry level set-up but something that if she likes she can hold on to for awhile without the skis not being or turning into a pile of shit. So let me know skis, boots and bindings. She is 5'7' 130lbs. I want a all around good ski to use on the whole mountain.

i'd say something 150-160ish. soft ski but not a complete noodle. are you gonna buy her a bunch of new gear or try to find used deals? if you spend any amount of money, the first thing you should look at is boots, since girls with even slightly uncomfortable/cold feet are no fun to ride with when they constantly bitch about it. the best skis in the world aren't going to save her feet from hurting. but as far as twins go, some 1080s or scratches would probably be good, and you could probably find some deals on some.

i'm going through the same deal with my gf, she's decided to ski some this season, so i made her buy nice boots, then bought her skis myself....too bad they were 11cm shorter than the guy told me and now i have to send them back

Yea, You can get the Scratch Pro Teens at 158. Good ski, not too agresive, soft wood core. $100 cheaper than Scratch Basic, and it's the same ski, only shorter. Plus since it's a twin tip, it might give her incentive to go hit it up.

Alright first of all this is just my opinion. The girl is 5'7 130, and the sizes being suggested are like 150. I think she could easly go for 160-175ish. As for skis like mentioned both scratches and 10's have all around soft flex so that might be a good choice.

yeah, 164 1260s. super light ski and very easy to handle. if you want her to start doin a little park stuff, these are perfect. they are real easy to learn on and the ski switch great. plus they are cheap.
